Hi,

Just received my first Busse - a Meaner Street with a double cut blade and snakeskin micarta - which I plan to use as an outdoors/bushcraft blade.

Thought it might be interesting to see side-by-side photos with my InfiCoot, which is a favourite of mine on canoe/hiking trips. (The ring in the lanyard hole of the Inficoot is so that I can lock it to the inside hardware of a suitcase, allowing it to be inspected in checked baggage but making it difficult to walk away with)

For interest, the curved notch on the end of the extended tang on the Meaner Street throws sparks beautifully from a Fire Steel.

Nice pic, Mike. Knife's looking good. Is the snakeskin hard to come by? I remember seeing something on the Busse site about it not being that available anymore, maybe I read that wrong.

Hi Boink,

The snakeskin was one of the models listed at the Busse Company Store as being in stock; just costs a bit more

I believe that it was the Tiger Stripe Micarta that was in short supply and would only be available in the future on limited production models.

affirmative mike, number two behind the steelheart, cleared to land..

Tiger may be "limited" in supply, but snakeskin is on the endangered species list :(

The Elusive Snakeskin

The Snakeskin micarta handles were discovered accidentally and cannot be duplicated. Not only have we tried to duplicate this unusual layered look with several different manufacturers who claimed that duplication would not be a problem, but several other knife manufacturers have tried quite unsuccessfully to duplicate it as well. Once our supply is used up, the Busse Combat original Snake Skin micarta will not be an available again.
