So after drooling all over the ad in Blade magazine, my Meaner Street has arrived. Satin finish blade, Black paper micarta handle. It is absolutely beautiful. It is impossible to tell where steel ends and micarta starts at the top and bottom of the handle. Great finishing work.
It was listed at $272 US which converts to $364 Cdn. plus $33 Cdn shipping and $62 Cdn taxes to our Goverment for a total of $458. Cdn. At this point I believe it is worth every penny. I know I have the sickness, and you should have seen me sneak the package in the house without the wife seeing. My biggest covert operations! I guess I should get photo priviliges if I'm gonna hang here. I think posts with photos add to the forum.
So now, let's see, what's next, will that be an Active Duty or a Badger Attack?????

Congrats and you'll know your really sick when you start buying backups of all your favorites. You know one for show and one to go :D

Congrats on the MS!

Maybe all of us Busse fans near Toronto can organize a trip to Atlanta some year.

You had to pay tax??

I have bought a few items from the United States and never payed any taxes.

Peter,
I was surprised too, although it wasn't the first time. Sometimes I get a bill for duty after the fact. This time I had to pay at the post office in order to get receipt of the package. Sometimes they get you sometimes they don't. And I had been thinking about Atlanta somewhere in the future.

great lil' knife!
i'd go for the badger next. active duty has the same handle as the ms.

Maybe us Busse fans near Toronto can get together and go to Blade one year. Me and Dr. Thor are thinking of something similar. Since I cannot drive (I'm 15), I can chip in for gas. ;)

Yea, You're right, it is a little knife so the next one should be a BA or a NO, now that's one that looks just about right. Anyone vouch for that?

I got my first Busse, about 3 months ago, a Leaner Meaner Streets, same finish, satin and paper micarta, it's a work of art, and I got the bug.

I now own 2 Badgers, a Meaner, a Model T, an Active Duty, and a Jungle Defender, oh yeah, and the Leaner that started it.

Watch out !!!

Keep braggin and see how many Canadian LE's read this forum....

I am not bragging nor am I proud of doing it. I was of the understanding that sales taxes were placed on items that were purchased from within the country. I know many people who buy items from the United States and do not pay taxes on these items. Their is, I think, only a charge to import the product into Canada. Is what myself and others are doing considered ilegal?

Not illegal. Sales tax can only be taken form items sold in the same State. If you sell something across State borders there is no tax...

I suspect you will find that not to be the case. I know that Idaho, Virginia, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania (States I've lived in as an adult/taxpayer) all expect you to declare this on your state income taxes and pay the appropriate fees. No one ever does, but I would wager that this is because the states don't enforce it, not because it isn't required. The Senate has toyed with the idea of imposing a uniform internet sales tax, I think, but it has never been serious.

Besides, doesn't Peter live in Canada?

Rick

Rick, yes, I am from Canada. I, like everyone else likes to save money, but not at the expense (pun intended ;) ) of doing something blatantly ilegal. If this is legaly wrong please tell me. Although, like I said, I have NEVER had to pay taxes on goods imported from the United States. I also think this works both ways. I have family and friends in the United States and they do not pay Canadain or American taxes on these goods they import.
