I took my flintlock for a walk in the woods during early muzzle loader season (3rd week of Oct). Shot a midsize anterless from my treestand at about 20 yards. The Meaner is a great size for dressing a deer. Not too big and not too small.

Check the hole from a 50 cal round ball!!! For reference the Meaner Street blade is 1 inch wide.

For my deer it all ends with a fast ride in a hearse (Black Volvo Turbo Station Wagon) to the butcher shop!!! Yummy pepper sticks!!!

Well...I'm glad somebody got some deer this year. Unfortunately, AZ's first two rifle seasons ... ahhh ... SUCKED! Oh, nice knife too. Good to see it used for something other than just filling the space inside a sheath!

oh man, that makes me hungry.

You almost have to do a barbeque after that:thumbup:

awesome ..just awesome, venison jerky sticks and stew , oh...oh..those tender loins are delicious!! onions and a little butter!

Looks like a good lung shot. Nice deer. What model is your smokepole?

Oh yeah, nice knife too. :D

I let some small ones walk back at Thanksgiving. Had a little spike come and feed right under my stand.

Going to try to find something a little bigger in the next few weeks.

It was the last day of early season. I had not seen anything until Saturday morning. When this came by I thought this might be all I see today. It looked like a middlin sized doe so I shot it. Turned out to be a button buck. I was mad at myself. I vowed to use the binocs before I shoot a doe again. I will go out during late season and try to get a buck. I have seen other deer on this farm while squirrel hunting with the kids.

As far as having ya'll over for venison. Sorry, my kids and I will finish it up ourselves (fortunately my wife doesn't eat it, leaves more for us). Sorry...

Guyon,
I used a Thomson Renegade. Loaded with patched round ball over 90 gr of Pioneer powder. Borrowed it from a friend. I will try to pick my own up this coming year. First I gotta stop buying knives. Tough habit to break...

It was a quarting-on shot. I just caught the back of the left lung. It exited on the rightside in front of the rear leg. Deer walked about 5 yds and fell over and died within 20 seconds. Very effective load. I am really liking these big bore muzzle loaders.

be carefull those backstraps taste so good your lips might beat you brains out.add lots of garlic, butter, and onions.enjoy-great pics.

And he even has a Rick Santorum sticker on his car!! Way cool !!!!!!

Nice Pics!!

I wish I could go deer hunting this year, but I'm a new dad (as of three months ago) and I would have a 50 cal. hole in me if I said I was going away for a few days to go hunting.
I can't wait til my boy is old enough to beg his mom to "make me" take him hunting:D
