Well after scoring a Meaner in Ganza a while back, I was a little dissappointed in the ax like edge of this EDC sized blade. Had it up FS and FT but no real interesting offers. Tonight I decided to fix the thick edge issues. I took the flat grind a little higher and thinned out the edge. I left the spine full thickness so it is still plenty strong but now it can actually do some fine cutting chores. I plan on leaving the coating on till some wear occurs. Then it may get a blasted finish :)

WoW That meaner looks amazing. Probably cuts like a monster now. Was there enough material removed to make a signifigant weight difference?

There is a little less weight. Nothing too drastic of a change though :)

Looks good Bill  Now that is how a MS is suppose to be ground  Nice geometry yet still full thickness at the spine.

Almost looks like a hollow grind, looks great:thumbup: When you do lite grinding on a knife does it effect the tempering of the blade edge ? I was thinking about trying it on some of my thicker blades.( or maybe not )

Outstanding Bill! Still has the look of a saber grind but much higher...I have to agree, it almost appears to be hollow ground. Very cool contrast bro.

Tbaugh7, I didn't let the blade get any heat build up during the grinding process. I used new belts and frequent water dips to keep it cool through the whole process. No effect to the temper :)

Looks great Bill:thumbup:

The contrast between the satin and muddy looks cool...I would have never thought that would look so good.

Hopefully, this won't lead to an infraction, but...

Would you consider modding other Meaners like this? I've bought ... one or two ... for my Mrs. and I think she would like them even better modded in this way.

Right now I am too swamped to take on any more work. Try me in a month or two :)
