Meaning of "Transient Alert"?

In addition to collecting knives, wristwatches, and exotic cars with spectacular electrical problems, I also collect military and law enforcement insignia.

Recently someone gave me a large, oblong (about 11" wide) embroidered jacket crest with the words "FIRST IN TAC" across the top, 'MACDILL AFB FLORIDA" across the bottom, and "TRANSIENT ALERT" in large letters across the width.

Can anyone with Air Force experience explain to me the meaning of "FIRST IN TAC" and "TRANSIENT ALERT"?

TIA!:)

Not nearly exciting as it sounds..."transient alert" are the guys that come out with the "follow me" truck to show transient aircraft where to park on the tarmac. I've also seen some bases call the refuelers this also, but still the same idea.

Must be British, Lucas, the Prince of Darkness. Having owned both a Norton Combat Commander and an MG that were blessed with Lucas electrics. On a similar note, the British invented television in the early 1900's and never brought it to market as they could not make it leak oil.

Paul: TAC and SAC actually stand for 'Tactical Air Command' and 'Strategic Air Command' (respectively). Not 'airlift'.
