hi this is my first post i hope someone can help me i have a very old meat cleaver that was full of rust i had it sandblasted and i wanted to know if there is any way i can have it polished so it is shiny again the sandblasting left a matte gray finish on the blade thank you for your help

You could polish it yourself with some sandpaper and a sanding block. Go to www.engnath.com for hand polishing instructions. I polished the flats of some bead blasted knives and they came out fine. This works best if the cleaver is basically flat ground. You can still do it yourself if there is a concave space, you just need something that will fit in the space and back the sandpaper. If you choose this method, be prepared for some labor. I hand sanded a chef's knife down to 180 or 220 grit, which is nice, but not very shiny. It took nearly a full day (8 hours). Welcome to the forums.
