I harvested two large does last week and then this feller walked out on me this morning. We are now all stocked up for the winter. He's a pretty big boy for around here. I'm a 44" in the shoulders for reference.

Congrats! How much did he weigh? Nice Buck!
His rack looks huge compared to his body..or maybe it's just the pic? Or they grow different down their? Just curious, either way, congrats!

Thank you Bruce. It's a CVA Optima Elite in 30-06. It only weighs in at 8.5 lbs with a Nixon BDC 3-9x40 on top. I'm a ground hunter and I cover a lot of territory so I appreciate a rifle that is well balanced and easy to carry. I rotate between it, a Ruger M77, and a Browning BLR-81, both in .308. The 30-06 is just such an efficient brush caliber for deer.
 
The 30-06 is a great round WB. I had one for years and used it on deer, moose, bears, and mountain goats. Currently I'm running a 7-08 and 280, but feel like there is a hole in the cabinet for another '06!
 
Nice, good looking rack and a good caliber, I just took my first deer monday with a 30-06, and it is now meat in the freezer
 
That is a really good deer!

Here are my 2013 bucks. The carcass weight on the Muley was 170! Sweet jeebus what a hog. The whitetail kept falling off the stick so I said to heck with it. That picture was actually an accident.

The ought 6 is too much gun for me. I shoot a 260 Remington with a 130g Accubond, for everything lol.

its all downhill from here.....I wanted to kill my first deer hunting with my uncle and now that I have, my parents own about 50 acres in north east TN....time to hunt. though I could probably kill as many deer as I wanted to by shooting about 300(ish) yards from my barn lol. My dad passed when I was very young, I was fortunate enough to still have his guns though and was able to take my first deer with his deer rifle....now I have 3 more rifles to kill deer with before I can hunt with my own (which I probably wont anyways lol)
