Hello all. I'll keep this short for now. B day is coming up, July 21. I'm going to try and pick up with b day funds, an Arktika. I have recently fell in love with this knife. I just would really appreciate anyone's input on the knife. YouTube I can only find Greg medford talking about it, he's a trip lol. Searched here haven't found anything yet. I would appreciate any info, thoughts, insight, and or pics of personal knife. Also let me know if you think this is an awful idea for some reason, just let me know why. Thank you so much for your time guys. Hope everyone has a great day.

Howz it going. My name is Mike I'm the number two grinder for Medford Knife. I don't personally have one but I've made more than my fair share of them. I love the Arktika. It's a solid knife. The handle is small enough for you to have a good hold on it with your bare hands but big enough for you to have a good hold on it with even heavy winter gloves. The Blade is half flat grind and half hollow grind so it can get sharp as all he'll but the nose of it is thick enough to be able to chip away at things without breaking the edge. We can anodize just about any color on the sides that you can think of. Or some flame treatment and the knife can look amazing. I don't carry one personally but I will try to get some pictures of a few different ones that we have tomorrow.

Hello Cakes. I was wondering the same thing a few weeks ago. Took the chance and ordered the Arktika. What can I say? If you have any specific questions, feel free ask. As far as this knife goes, simply amazing. The ergos, the utility, the build quality, all top notch. Can't say enough good about this knife. Makes me excited for the other Medfords such as the Praetorian, the Marauder, and the Viper. The Arktika was the first knife I saw from MKT. It was back in December. I was in awe. Never seen anything like that before. Slowly but surely, I started discovering what MKT was about. So unique in the knife community. Their passion, and uncompromising style made me excited about knives. I now own a tanto neck knife, a TFF-1, and the Arktika.

that'd be awesome. I could only get the base model, at $850, this sounds crazy as I type this. ... but it's $200 for titanium hardware, and $100 for upgraded blade. are either of those worth it? I think d2 for the blade is good because I do construction and need a strong blade/tip. as far as the Ti hardware I don't really know it's advantages. I appreciate both of the replies, I knew someone had to know of these.

ok, where did you get it? price if you dont mind. what is the blade type did you get, regular d2 or upgraded? and did you get the Ti hardware? can I have it? (lol) do you really use it, and do you think it's worth the price? I think so, but I haven't paid it yet. I could possibly have the extra money in 2 to 4 weeks, but I don't know thinks tend to pop up when I try and plan like this. thank you so much for your time. feel free to slap some pics around if you want so I can drool....

The base model for the Arktika is an awesome knife. I think D2 will work good for you. It's a strong steel and holds an edge through lots of abuse. As for Ti hardware it's always good to upgrade but for a work knife that your going to beat up and abuse (that's what knives are for) then the standard hardware will do just fine for you.

I've got some pics but can't figure out how to post them with my phone. I'll try later when I get home.

thanks. trying to figure out all the different finishes. bladehq has tumbled ti handles with black blades. I'd like to order one straight from medford, but it might be a month or 2 to save up, then 32 to 38 weeks lead it says on the website. that leads me to want to save up then grab from an online store. but I feel as though you lose some of the truly custom, made for me feel. plus there aren't a lot of different arktika finishes out there. mostly tumbled ti and black or tumbled blade.

It's all about how long you can wait. Once you have the money saved up you need to decide if you want one now and might want to settle on a few things. If you have the time to wait then I would definitely order straight from us. There is something about being able to say exactly how you want your knife to look and having it made just the way you want.

If you have to have it, you have to have it. If you want it and can afford it, go for it.

The Arktika reminds me of a large Spyderco R a little bit (recent sprint with Nijishin CF and vg-10). I imagine it is comfortable and substantial in hand. Looks like a LOT of labor goes into the Medford with the customization options and finishes. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to handle one yet. They must be doing something right though when they're flying out of the shop...

at twice Sebenza money! :D lol.

A bit more than I can swing for one blade myself right now... :(

(I mean, that kind of cash could get me a nice 1911... or something )

i had two praetorians of medford, and one marauder. first praetorian was impossible to open with one hand. NO WAY, no matter how hard you try. another one was ok with it, but blade went not as good. marauder...it's frame sticks to the blade. well, ok, i used pencil. BUT. i already got blade play now! i didn't even cut with it or pry! i never wear it. i just opened it about 200 times. the pivot screw i can't tighten, it has no torx or hex. the blade tip is for stubbing into wood and then break pieces from it. but the handle don't let you do this, hand will go to the blade when pushing the knife through wood. very stupid designs. ergonomic - it bites hand. i hate i lost money on them.

cakes, PM me for that info on where you can get them. I know of 3 places right now that have them in stock. I paid the MKT factory price. Went with D2 and no hardware upgrade. The Arktika is more than enough to impress minus the extras you'd wait 35ish weeks for. I didn't have the patience. :) Seriously can't get over how this knife belittles every folder you pick up afterwards, in both size and build quality, at least with the ones I've held. Definitely will be with me for a lifetime. If you're wanting it for work, I wouldn't worry about the hardware upgrade. Just mho.

It might do you well to find a dealer near you or someone who owns one near you that will let you hold it to see for yourself before you drop that kind of money. It's a big, f'n, knife! I was lucky enough to meet the MKT crew at blade. They're a great bunch of guys! I got to handle the Arktika and I have to say that thing is a monster! I have no practical use for a knife of its size. That being said, I'll be ordering one in the near future. Try to get your hands on one before you spend the money. Just a suggestion. Regardless of what you buy from them you won't be disappointed.

I do agree though that the Arktika gets far less attention than I think it deserves. There isn't one review I have found out there on the internets. One of the reasons I was intrigued by this blade in particular.

Update: bought a bronzed handle, black oxide blade and it should arrive by 12 tomorrow! I think I might have to make me first unboxing video because like you said dmnorthy I can't find that many videos about it, and the only one I can find besides MKT is in Russian lol. SO EXCITED!

Love, love, love my Arktika. The ergonomics are perfect for me and the knife Is a beautiful brute!

I love my Viper, they make good stuff and have outstanding customer service! My Viper was having problems so I sent it in, forever reason they couldn't fix it so they gave me a brand new knife. Gregs a good guy.
