I recently received a Medford TFF4 that was for most part brand new. My question/problem is how in the world do you open and close this thing? For those who are wondering, the knife has a flipper tab, but is not truly a flipper. You just break the detent with the tab, the use the thumb grove or wrist flick to fully open. To close, the knife is meant to be "clawed" without rolling the knife over to expose the lock. Now my problem is the knife is new, and per instruction, you are not to lubricate the pivot. (I first thought this was a typo). Getting the detent to disengage has been a monumental effort to this point. I don't know if the knife is wearing, or my finger is getting stronger. But one it is open and locked, it's a two hand affair to get it unlocked. This has to be the stickiest lock I have ever experienced. I thought my Striders were bad.
I guess my question is : Does anyone else have experience with these knives and their break in, AND OR, anybody have any advice?
Remember, no lube, and I forgot to add, your not suppose to loosen the pivot.
Help appreciated.
Forgot to add.....I have already tried the pencil lead/Sharpee trick on the lock face. Didn't help.
