So, what do you all think of the video I put up on the site here:

Burner Web Page

I'm thinking about adding more media content, good idea or bad? Does anyone have any trouble viewing the video? I appreciate all feedback!

:)

Darren,

The video worked fine it was kind of dark except for the flame but I'm guessing that was what you planned. Might be good to add somthing on tuning.

i think its a great idea. it will help you sell them because people will be able to know what to expect and have an idea about what theyre getting

Seems like a good idea to me.Video ran fine.I thought it was too dark, untill you lit the burner.

Dig it! I like the whole idea... gives you a REAL idea what you're getting (and getting in to!).

Darren, if you manage to get the FAQ stuff done, your website will be singly the greatest resource for forge parts, design and information I've seen!

PS- Expect a call from me (hopefully in the near future) to buy more stuff, as the hammerin' bug has bit me!

E X C E L L E N T ! ! ! Turn the volume of your PC way up , you gotta love that roar . Darren , you are doing a great job on your site . Every time I go there it gets better . Keep up the great work - Service does not get any better than what you & your company offer . I really mean that , & I know for a fact that everyone here appreciates everything you do . You are a two thumbs up kind of guy

I don't have the video player so I didn't see it..I'm on dialup and won't load the softwear .
I'm sure I'm not the only one,,
for us you could have a set of pictures..??

I would add , why not offer the blowers, hoses and regulators also? I didn't see them offered?
a few complete custom packages would help those that don't want to chase things down. you could be the one stop shop for forges :D you're on the right track.

Bitchin! (I love that word)

Content is always a good thing. Not only does it provide valuable information to existing customers, it also attracts new potential customers to your site.

Your website is indeed becoming a valuable resource for forge building. Browsing the forge gallery and reading the tutorials helped me get up to the level of knowledge to try buiding one myself, and as you're well aware, that translates into business. An excellent use of bandwidth.

I have a cable ISP and the video played right away with no lag time. I love my cable ISP and use it for my phone service (vonage) as well.

When I did website design back in the 90's I was taught to keep the bandwidth low (more html, less graphics). Nowadays the new crop of designers are being told to hike up the bandwidth with videos, graphics and flash presentations. There are some sites that only use Macromedia Flash and if you are on dial-up, then you are S.O.L.

Joe thanks
here we are not offered cable yet :(

for web spidering and the hand edited directories like Yahoo for web placement I think the engines as well as directories still want mainly text to meta tag relativity, where as graphics and videos as you know are no more than a url link
so for key word meta tag and page relativity and loading time..
I'm still in the old world of it :) I think they are also still
(the engines and directories)..so for placement on the main engines and directories I'll not put that stuff on my sites ( it could be just me though:) ), also thinking of the customers in the same position as I'm in , access wise.. just food for thought, to reach out to the new customers that are looking but don't have the URL info. we need to place on the web well.

Lot of dial up folks out here, large down loads not good. No cable or DSL out here in the woods. Nice web site though

Very cool stuff!! The more info the better.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback on the video content as well as everything else, I really appreciate it, you guys are the best! :)

Looks like I'll work on adding more of this type of stuff to the site, but also, include many more images...I'm glad a couple of you pointed out the dialup service problem, as I forget what it was like to have dialup after having a high bandwidth connection for so many years now...I agree, it's important not to forget about everyone who doesn't have that option.

I'll probably redo that video and have a script handy so I don't kind of fumble through it like I did. :) I had to shoot it with the lights off, else you couldn't really appreciate the flame characteristics. I tried doing one on tuning a venturi burner but couldn't really capture the subtle changes that you see...I'll have to work on that. The next one I want to put on the site is one showing how to fire up a Forced-Air burner. There probably isn't anything more daunting in what we do than for a new guy to try to fire up a Forced-Air burner for the first time without having ever seen it done in person!

If you guys have any other suggestions for other types of video content that you think would be a good fit with the kinds of things we offer, I sure would be open for any and all suggestions.

Dan, click around on some of the other links at the top of the page and you'll find everything else you mentioned...except for the blowers, I'm still working on a good source for those.

:)

Hello Darren

You have a really cool website. It is well laid out without a lot of extraneous graphics that take up extra bandwidth. The video was good. Just make it so that one has to start the video instead of having it start on it's own, keeping the bandwith requirements down. Your FAQ's are great. The only suggestion that I can make is to check how your website looks with browsers other than IE after making changes to it. I use Opera and I know other here use Firefox. Some websites just don't work right with these other browsers.
