I felt this needed to be said due to this perceived "pissing contest" between members of the media and ESEE Knives. We've had several emails today. A couple from people pissed off at us and three from people agreeing with us. So, I'm posting this up as our official statement on the matter.
First of all there is no pissing contest. We simply don't allow anyone to control with rudeness who we will interview with and who we won't. We did several interviews at SHOT show. Each of the interviewers were polite and courteous. They called ahead of time and asked when a good time would be to do the interview. Simple. Our show schedule was booked with appointments from dealers and end users. We simply didn't have time for the interview when he wanted to do it. Again, our customers and end users come first, not a free piece of advertisement on YouTube.
Second, the "pissing contest" came about because our customers were shoved aside by this reviewer. He said he wanted an interview and didn't have time to wait. He literally interrupted a conversation between an ESEE customer and the booth staff to say who he was and that he needed to do the interview. The booth staff took offense to his rude behavior and told him I was in a meeting (I was). He then said he didn't have time to wait and left. Why is this guy any more special than Armory Dogg, Knives Illustrated or a half dozen other media members that had meetings scheduled to go over new product with us.
Third, ESEE has no beef with this guy except for the above mentioned reasons. We don't even know him. Our first live introduction to him was one of rudeness and disrepect to our customers and booth staff. Before that we have never met him and never watched his reviews unless someone posts it up here. The same way we rarely read reviews of our knives in the magazines. We simply pass them on for others to read. Hell, this guy may be the best ticket in town. He may command a whole group of buyers. Who knows, but it is not our business to influence or worry about what anyone writes or says about us as "official media". Our business is to take care of our customers and end users. Nothing more. Since they have always (and always will) come first - not the media or reviewers. Period. The day that ESEE has to fall at the feet of the reviewers and media to get people to buy our scrap iron is the day we will close up shop and walk away. If that pisses off all this guy's fans and they sell off all their ESEE knives, so be it. ESEE refuses to sacrifice its principles of dealing with our customers to have 15 minutes of fame on YouTube. That customer that the reviewer pushed away is MUCH more important to us than any writer or reviewer ever will be.
This will be ESEE's final say on this matter and I'm closing the thread so it will not turn into a debate. Again, we simpley refuse to deal with rude or disrespectful people.
