Medieval folding knife

I follow discussions on Myarmoury.com, a site that is mostly about historical weapons. I noticed a discussion of a medieval folding knife. This is most interesting, since someone had made a replica of this knife. A fine knife it is. While posting this there was no mention of the age of the original, but I am sure it will be mentioned.

Found the following online, doesn't mean anything. However, I remember either Knives Illustrated or Blade did an article on a Roman folding knife. I don't remember if it was a friction folder. Similar design.

1st Century Romans created the first folding pocket knife. They made for easy carrying for soldiers and other explorers on their journeys and conquests. However, as the use of sheathed knives became more popular, the use of pocket knives fell somewhat into disfavor.
