medium sized bowie

For an upcoming article in the finer edge, I forged this bowie out of 30mm rond silver steel (1.2210). The blade is clay hardened in water, tapered to the point. The fittings are all Stainless steel, grip desert ironwood with an ebony butt. the point is dead centered in my hand.

O yes this one has my logo punched into both sides of the knife, no particular reason, just liked the punching I guess.

At this moment the knife has a scotch brite finish because it will used in the woods for the article. After that I'll give it a nice handrubbed finish and bring out the hamon.

Total length: 31,0 cm
blade: 19.5 cm

here are some pics:

I like everything about that knife, Tony.

Roger, if you check eastvillage's profile, you will find a link to his website.

Like I already said on weapons.be, nice knife. Nice wood on that handle!

Very nice bowie.

So, um, who are you?

Roger

He Roger,

My real name is Toni Oostendorp, I live in the Netherlands and try to write at least one article for "the finer edge" every month.

The focus of the articles is on european knifemakers and events. I also try to do some "how to articles" in collaboration with other makers.

Lovely piece. It reminds me a bit of Grandmaster Ninja so-and-so's knives, but that piece looks remarkably well done. Good job!

Hi Toni,
I've admired your work and your collaborations for a while now and this one is no different.
Nice looking Bowie/fighter,dig the slight recurve.
Hoping you post a pic(s) after you hand rub/etch the blade.

Doug

LMAO.....that's harsh, man. It is a VERY nice looking knife and Toni has made no claim of it being a "flesh eater" so cut him some slack:p :D I like your work, Toni. Maybe I will run inot at SICAC if I can make it over this year.

hhahhaahha, no the only flesh this one has eaten is my own;)
JDM61 maybe I'll see you at the Sicac. I won't have a table there, but thinking of visiting a few good friends who are exhibiting.

No table for me either in the forseeable future. What does a table cost at SICAC?

The price for a table is rather steep, 535 euro's (around 640 dollars) for one table and that's it. no meal, drink or anything.
But on the other side, it is a show in the hart of Paris and some makers sell really good over there.
