A question on Dozier's smaller tacticals... I once read that he's willing to make some changes to his knives - is it possible that one could get say another inch or so added to blade length?

How about Bud Nealy ? Custom or his production models made by Boker.

zxas,

Welcome to the forums!!!!

please define "affordable"

Give us an actual ballpark figure of what you are looking to spend. This will help narrow down the choices.

Also, are you willing to wait for a custom made knife, or do you just want production?

A Fallkniven F1 in a Concealex sheath from Normark (do a search for him on these pages) is a very nice package for IWB or SOB carry.

Hi zxas....

Welcome to the forums first off....

First we have to know what your definition of affordable is....It means different things to different people..

Secondly,, You'll find that most factory knives aren't really set up for IWB carry...

If they do have it,,it is usually a poorly designed sheath with large bulky adaptations that will do a variety of carry modes....

There are the exceptions though..

You basically in this case have 3 choices..

1- Buy a custom knife with a decent carry rig
2- Buy a custom knife and have a custom carry rig made for it.
3- Buy a factory knife and have a custom carry rig made for it.

If you truely need/want to carry IWB a Custom rig is the only way to go.

If you have any specific questions,, please feel free to drop me a note...

In that case, for a really nice set of carry options, Bud Nealy should be high on your list. Most of his fixed blades come with a Nine position multi-carry system sheath. And his knives are very well made and designed too.

After reading Eric's post more thoroughly, I realize I just selected option #1. Option number two (any fixed blade of your choice) with a custom sheath designed by You and Eric (Normark) would be a really fine choice as well

Zxas,

Check out Al Polkowskis knives, they may fit what you are looking for.

Remster

P.S. I have a used AP HangTight with a neck sheath and SOB(LH)sheath I am looking to sell or trade for a Blue BM940s.

Hey Guys..

Thanks Alberta Ed and Para for the vote...

Really Any knife that one likes,, at least within reason,, can be made to carry a number of ways,, it's just a matter of designing the right kind of sheath for the blade itself...

If I'm not carrying IWB I'm wearing Belt buckle fashion. Probably my favorite mode of carry by far...

SOB in my opinion is a little too much on the dangerous side for me,, unless it's concealed...

I carry a Cold Steel Stainless Tanto in one of Eric's Concealex IWB sheaths, and have found it to be a great IWB set.

Save your money!!! Get in touch with Newt Livesay. He not only does great blade work, his kydex rigs are awesome!

I have the Livesay UJI FIGHTER TANTO. It came with a NICE rig, with multi-carry options. The knife is thin, and is sharp enough out of the box!

IT IS ONLY $50!!!!

Lite, thin, sharp, and strong...I love mine!

Hey Zxas... I see that you're from Nashville. Welcom Neighbor! I'm down in Cleveland, a small town just south of Chattanooga.

I'm fairly new to collecting Customs also. However, I've done lots of research and have asked hundreds of questions to both seasoned collectors and Custom Makers. You're welcome to stop by the Farm if you're ever down this way, I may be able to show you some examples of a few different Makers knives that might save you some time during your search.

I own and would recommend a Dozier for the purpose that you are wanting. Bob's blades can be Ordered slightly customized and his wait time, which I think currently is 90 - 120 days, isn't outrageous. The other Custom Makers also mentioned (Blackwood, Polkowski, Nealy) all produce a very high quality product and is within your stated price range.

My advice?? .... take your time ...... since you're new to customs try to handle some knives by the Maker of your choice before purchasing... but most of all..... enjoy the research! That's part of the fun!
