Back in October I posted an issue with my Meerkat. What had occured was that during a routine cleaning I noticed an amber colored plasticy/nylon (?) material stuck between the scale and the blade. I had no idea what the object was, but I wound up removing the item and went on my way.
This past weekend, I was cleaning my new Lil Temperance by disassembling the knife down to its parts and cleaning them individually. Upon disassembly, I noticed that the Temperance has orangy/Amber colored washers between the liners and the blade. I assume this assists in making the knife operate more smoothly.
Based upon this observation, I am thinking that the orangy/amber material I removed from the Meerkat was a similar type of washer. Unfortunately, I cannont get the Meerkat apart to verify and replace the damaged washer, but the good news is the Meerkat seems to be operating normally without the washer: ie, no blade play or reduction in smoothness.
Oh well, just thought I'd pass along my observations.
