Meerkat - Steel?

How many differant types of steel was the Meerkat made in?

440C
AUS-6
AUS-8?
Any others?

I would like to see one made in VG-10, anyone else?

440C was only used for a limited time in USA-made Meerkats, while Japanese production was being prepared.

All Meerkats now in production are made in Seki and use AUS-6.

Would someone explain the differences between AUS-6 & 440C.
I'm bidding on an AUS-6 Meerkat on eBay, but would a 440C model offer
noticeable benefits?
