Been out of the loop and not posting as much on bladeforums or any subforums for a while now, especially since I started grad school, but I figured some folks may appreciate this thread. I was blessed to have been admitted into graduate school this year, and as a gift and also a birthday present to myself for said acceptance, I commissioned a custom CZ from CZ Custom Shop in Mesa, Arizona.

I call her Bertha.

Bertha because she's big and heavy (not really, but she can hold 19+1). Weighs as much as a full size 1911...and I like it. She is a CZ Custom Shop *custom* Accu-shadow AUZ. AUZ denotes the Australia and Denmark length barrels, which are not common to the American markets. I wanted the extended barrel because it sets my CZ just that much more apart from a standard CZ.

Short reset trigger with a 3.1 pound single action and 8.1 pound double action according to test target. After a lot of dry firing and my first range visit with this magnificent specimen, I can safely say that the trigger pull in both double action and single action is even lighter. Less than 1/16 of an inch of take up on the single action. No overtravel. Guys from my FFL dealer said the single action felt better than many tuned 1911 single action triggers he's fondled; I tend to agree. The only 1911 I felt that had a better trigger pull was a Wilson Combat CQB Elite with a 2 pound trigger pull. Front/rear tritium night sights, full ambi controls; I requested the CZ 85combat ambi slide release to be fitted to the Shadow frame on mine...so full ambi! 4.925 inch barrel not commonly found on US models. Accu-bushing system tested for 2 3/8 inch groupings at 50 yards. VZ tactical diamond G10 grips.

Be sure to check the single action trigger position in my pictures as well as in the random picture of the CZ 75B from google images. The pull is so light and short than my friend had a negligent discharge while pointing down range. He was staging the trigger when it went off. It may sound too light for some folks, but I find it fine. It's fine if you practice and know your firearm.

Oily, I know. If any of you have full metal firearms, you know that the oil tends to just disappear after a few weeks of just dry firing. I just re-oiled her after taking the bushing pics.

Just for shiggles and ghits, I posted a pic of my bro's M&P 9 Pro that was worked on by Bowie Tactical Concepts. Trigger work, milling for Deltapoint, co-witnessed sights, aggressive stippling. It has a laser training aid attached to the barrel right now that lets you shoot a laser without having to rack the slide, similar to the SIRT (shot indicating resetting trigger) pistol. In light of the Feinstein-ian AWB scare mags of all kinds have been difficult to find, especially M&P mags. Heh...there are two more mags I forgot to pull out for the M&P.

I hope you enjoyed this thread as much as I enjoyed sharing my jewel. Money and time permitting, this will be my new competition gun...even if it's set up for home/self defense.

Congrats. I've never owned a CZ, but have heard good things about them. Even better when it is custom made to your specs...
