I got a loved and used BM E from Raden some months ago. I have liked it, but the handle slabs were slimmed down for someone with smaller hands. Well I have big mitts and found it not that comfortable to chop with. Lately I have had the urge to attempt to change the slabs.
First off I drilled out the tube fasteners and took off the grip panels. Then I ground away the laser cut finish on the handle area, making it match the back of the blade which was polished.
I had some artificial Ivory on hand from another knife/sword project and thought the white would be a great contrast to the black blade.
I tried to shape the grip for best hold/comfort when chopping. I also had the handle slabs cover the talon hole areas, but drilled them out for future D-guard weaving. The hardest part of this job was flaring the s/s tubing that I used for fasteners. 316ss is tougher than I needed, but I had scraps on hand to use, sooo I did.
The project turned out OK I think. Next I will need a sheath from Andrew I think, Kydex/leather would be sexy for my Mistress!!
I will post a few bad photos to let you see my new baby. She feels soooo good now!!!
