We officially do not pick her up until this coming Tuesday, but I thought that I'd give you a sneak peek at the newest addition to our little family.

Her name is Sadie, she is 4 mo old, a Sheltie/Papillon mix and she is going to become my diabetic alert service dog, after I home train her for a few months.

Her mother was abandoned at the local SPCA, and she past away giving birth to her litter of 5 babies prematurely, due to stress and malnutrition, Sadie is the only one to make it. Her foster mom is the behavioral specialist at the SPCA, and she has been caring for Sadie since the 2nd day of life. Sadie has had an excellent beginning in life with her foster mom, and we intend to continue her education, and loving her as much as our family can.

aaaaand, here she is!

That pup has a great facial expression and body language: alert, smart and curious.

Awww man she is gorgeous! Awesome to know she will be training for service dog. Thats is so amazing that they can do that. I saw one in training yesterday at the checkout line in the grocery store. Big dog tho. Apparently they smell the breath changes and can alert when levels are off. Something like that? I dont know exactly what they do but sure is fascinating. Mine were following me around all day today and I couldnt figure out why? Usually they stay closer to the house with momma but at the end of the day i realized I had put some cookies in my pocket in my hiking pants and forgot about them. Today i put them back on and hit the woods again and there they were:D Congrats cul! good on ya brother:thumbup:

Kami dog brah, you are close. Basically I need to scent train her with my blood, and she'll be able to sense my levels about 20 minutes before they get too high or low. She'll notify me by licking or nudging me to check my levels. If I faint or become unresponsive, she'll be trained to protect me and bark for assistance.

You mean you get to pick your favorite Khuk and draw some of your own blood:eek: and continue the process till she figures it out! You are a brave warrior my friend!

My favorite bashpati? That sucker will take a limb, and Sadie will have a gusher to sample...lol

I just need to prick my finger and draw some blood onto the steri strip, and let her scent it. She needs to learn when it's good, any other level is bad. Pretty easy, just repetitious.

congratulations on your new family member. she looks feisty :)

i'm sure she'll have you trained real soon.

I guess it's time to sharpen up a Cho on one of those khuks now. :p

What a little darling!
Thank you for giving this little sweetie a "forever home".

We will be expecting more pics when you get her home and settled in. :D

We had to give this little one a "home", she lost her mommy at birth, none of her brothers or sisters survived the premature birth, so Sadie is indeed "special".

Just for you Karda, and I love showing off my other little "Princess".

Here she is with mommy, just picked her up, and we're waiting at my daughter's school to surprise her with the puppy she picked out the week before.

She likes her chew stick. I don't like rawhides (my last dog needed surgery to remove a blockage), this stick is actually made of vegetables.

Took me a whole day to take this pic, she just loves moving everywhere at top puppy speed.

She just woke up from her nap...brain hasn't turned on yet...lol

She was like stopping taking my pic, and get in this here room and play with me already!

What a cutie man, good on ya, she looks like a little fox. Gonna be a fun time in your home, they bring such joy and unconditional love.

Agree with everyone, she is definitely a cutie, wide eyed and curious and I bet quick as she zooms hither and yon. Amazing the things service dogs can do all wrapped up in a loving furry package :)
