Ok it isn't perfect and I am not. So laugh if you must. I started with an idea I would take my CGFBM and strip it then bead blast it then polish the edge up to the corrigations fading the polished area in to the bead blast in the corragations. Seemed like it should work. That is it on the top left after I put clear finish on the scales.
Then I stripped the whole thing after removing the scales. I stripped the scales also btw. I began to polish it and that is when I noticed that there was roughness from manufacturing running along the edge up to the corrigations. I tried to polish it out and it took on an erie shimmer like a mottled mirror finish. I really liked it. I reminded me of a sword in the game of Oblivion called ShimmerStrike (hence the name.) There was some heavy pitting under the black coating that I tried to grind out. I didn't do a great job but noticed how the metal took on a mirror finish. This is when my plan became finalized I polished every thing but the corragations and the mottled edge to a very near mirror finish (don't think I had the right polish wheel for that.) But for me it was close enough. I call my CGFBM ShimmerStrike.
I am waiting for some leather to come then I plan to make a sheath worthy of ShimmerStrike. Ok that will be a while probably make a new Kydex one for it first. I need to find a good oil that will bring out the colors in the scales.
Well what do you think? Like I said it isn't perfect but a project knife. Maybe I am crazy but to me it is one exceedingly fine looking hunk of INFI.
