Pardon the boring thread with poser coffee table shots. It's been a while since my last new Becker. Not for not wanting one, I assure you that much. :( So, when I received a decent credit with a large online retailer, I knew exactly what I wanted to splurge on.... :D

Here's my new BK10 Crewman! *I know, awful pun in the title.

I really like the size and feel of this one. It reminds me of a smaller 9 and I love my 9. I foresee taking it out and about more than I do my 9 just due to the smaller size. It is bearable hanging from my waist, whereas I usually just carry the 9 like I would a machete tossed in the back of the Jeep or on a pack.

The new coating and laser engraved logo looks nice.... I'll probably leave it for now, but then again I may not. :D I do plan on some micarta scales, but I plan to make a set or two of my own when I get a good chance to. Stay tuned for details.

The sheath is nice. A new one for belt carry and putting this one on pack duty is on my list in the future; however, I'm perfectly happy with this one in the meantime. The double snaps will take some getting used to. If that doesn't happen, one of them is getting hacked off. To be honest, it will probably happen in the field if it happens at all.

In short, I can't wait to take the newest crewman out to get some dirt time. I've been cutting up bits and pieces of things sitting here in the apartment in the meantime..... Why didn't I buy one of these sooner?

Bonus - Crappy cell phone unboxing picture!

One of my favorite blades of all time, congrats Jerry! A Camillus version served me well on my 2nd tour in Iraq.

I've got an LE version so I haven't gotten the new Ka-Bar one, however I have a kydex rig for it and it drops right into my front pocket. It's a totally awesomesauce blade!

Nice knife, I'm gonna be getting one of my own some day.

I'm curious about the handle straps. Is there a loop in them where one could slide a cut weld ring or a loop of paracord into place so it's easier to open with gloves?

Thank you, Murph. Your endorsement while drinking at Todds tipped the scales in the 10's favor.

Interesting.... You've got the wheels turning in my head now.

Unfortunately not. The ends are sewn over; however, there might be enough room on the end of the strap to make it work. I don't think you would need it. With the current overhang, unsnapping it with gloves should be no problem.

Congrats! Now, let's see some use on it--after all, Becker knives were made to work for a living. ;)
Booyeah.

Congrats man!! It's an awesome blade, but you already knew that. lol

So.................. What's next? :D

thanks for the information. I managed to open the stitching on my BK17 sheath and slide a weld ring through the new loop. And when I get a BK10 I'm going to be doing the same thing to it.

Got a picture? I was looking at mine after you asked that thinking it would be pretty easy to do. I was also thinking hat some paracord on the end of the bottom snap might help me tie it back behind the sheath when I don't need/want it.

Well you're doing it backward from the way I did it, which probably means you're doing it the right way.
Thanks for the affirmation, Murph.

Yeah no problem. Easy enough to open up the stitching with a seam ripper.

Here are some pictures of my BK17 rig.
