Yes, it's the S.U.C.K.: the Spyderco Urban Combat Knife.

To the casual observer this looks like a Spyderco Paramilitary at first glance, but look closer and notice the carefully designed features making this a first class self-defense knife.

1) The blade has been shortened so it measures less than 3 inches at the longest point. This makes it legal in a much wider number of jurisdictions than in its previous form.

2) The choil/blade intersection bas been subtly reshaped to make it less likely to snag on an attacker's clothing.

3) The military-style clip has been replaced by a smaller clip from a Byrd Crow and the G10 has been tapped for tip-up carry like I prefer. The screws and clip are also epoxied for a secure attachment.

4) The edge is fully serrated for maximum slashing effectiveness (not a modification, obviously).

The end result is a knife with a legal blade length but with a large handle area for maximum gripping security and reach. When I'm legally forced to carry nothing better than a <3" folder as my only means of self-defense, this is the one I'm going to choose.

Behold the awesomeness of the S.U.C.K.

Not my cup of tea personaly If i had to meet all those requirments I belive emerson would be the knife I would go check out their snubby = that knife except a little better blade imo for self deffense.

The locking mechanism is more critical on a self-defense knife than any other type. You're suggesting I trade one of the very best lock designs for one of the very worst.

I don't think that's a very good trade.

I dont know the spyderco military uses a liner lock as well and it was designed as a tactical knife, there is a youtube vid that actualy compares emerson cqc liner lock with the mili liner lock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Uzwh8f6DtI

Elkin, nice work on the mod's. The blade shape looks surprisingly similar to my D2 Para / beater which I was forced to reshape after snapping the a tiny bit of the tip off (completely my fault). I agree with it making for a more "friendly" EDC. I do notice a difference in performance though between that and the normal blade shape. I do have another D2 Para which I EDC also.

Nice execution of the clip replacement. The closed retention of one of my Paras isn't great and with that in mind there's no way I'd me doing that. I know this does vary from knife to knife with the original Para's, but I simply dot not trust it. I'm also a huge fan of the std tip down carry Millie clip, and FWIW I am disappointed to see the Endura type clip's appear on the Para2, but that's really not to big a deal as I'll probably retro fit an old school clip when I get my hands on one anyway...

And don't knock the serrations guy's !, they have their uses. The only Millie I carry is a SE 440V and in an abusive hard pull cutting environment that will out cut any PE blade hands down.

Para-Millie has a compression lock. ;)

I think he was trying to say there's nothing wrong with a liner lock done right. And there certainly is nothing wrong with Emerson locks. If the lock was a huge concern for the user, they might as well get a CS American Lawman or one of the Recons with a tri-ad lock.

Steel isn't a huge concern for self defense knives either, if it's stainless to prevent corrosion and takes a nice edge, that's all you really need. You're not gonna sit there testing edge retention on the bad guy. Of course, there are also many people who prefer 154CM to S30V.

I suppose you could add the ziptie mod to make it a wave opener, but as is the Snubby would be a better choice simply because of the wave feature. By the time the blade is out on any other knife, a wave opener would be embedded in your attacker.
