The next meeting of the California Knifemakers Assc. will be held at my place in Corona. Any and all are welcome to attend. You need not be member.

Many newer makers have been asking for teaching in the So Cal area. Well this is the best place to be. Even if you have never made a knife and are just thinking about getting started you are more than welcome.

I have been asked to give a lesson in Kydex sheath construction so that will be the main topic of the meeting. However, as usually happens, folks will splinter off and start discussing their own topics.

Once again it is May 25, starting at 9am and ending when the last person leaves. Feel free to drop me a line for directions or you may get my address off my website and use MapQuest or similar program.

Dues for the meeting are $2. Dues are not asked of first timers, but it is polite as the money goes to cover coffee, soda and doughnuts.

Thanks.

thanks ron, i have not been to a meeting in over a year. with the weekends being my knife selling days. anyone that can, do it. its a great bunch of people and the amount of talent and helpfulness of this group is second to none!

Just to pirate this thread for a second, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. CLARK!!!

Nathan, you must drive like a crazy man! :D RW, I sure wish I could join you folks. Iowa is a knifemaker's dessert...but California's just too far to drive. I'll be thinking about you!

Wish I could Ron, but I won't be in CA for another several weeks likely. Still looking for a place to work and live! :( Oh well.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes! Its official, I'M OLD!:p

This is amazing. So many posts in the past few months about guys in the SoCal area wanting some teaching, and only a couple responses.

Guys this is a big get together with a ton of top name makers. Bladesmiths and grinders alike. Names like Bill Herndon, Jim Ferguson and Mastersmith Red StCyr to name a few. If you want to jump start your knifemaking and knock years off the learning curve this is the place to be.

Well, I am not going to force the issue down anybodies throat, but don't post that you want lessons next week:p

Well, those of you in the SoCal area that missed this meeting missed out on a whole heck of alot.

Meeting just broke up. We did alot of Kydex work and some grinding. Heck even ol' Loveless himself showed up to learn Kydex.

There will be another coming up in a month or so. I will post the info when availible.

R.W., did you or any forumites get pics? I'd sure like to see what was happening! Imagine having Loveless at your home! I'd fall over. :D
