I leave Colorado in about a week, and I have a 110v Manix which I consider to be one of the most perfect cutting tools ever produced. Because of that, and Spyderco's continued dedication to its craft and customers, I want to shake hands with the president of Spyderco, and maybe have him sign the Manix.

Has anyone successfully set up such a meeting?

Well, I called and left a message on his assistant's voicemail. Here's hoping!

I have known Sal since the mid '80's. You won't find a nicer more approachable chap anywhere.
If he is in the office I am sure it will be his pleasure to sign your knife.:)

Post pics…….

Met him at Blade Show and shook his hand. Just down to earth guy. I'm glad that we're supporting such a great man and his company.

No joke. If I were to design the ideal knife company, it would be a lot like Spyderco. Lots of in-house, collaborative, and guest designs, combined with precision manufacturing, experimental materials, and affordable prices. Then, you throw in the collectors items and sprint runs, dealer exclusives, community feedback, fantastic customer service, and gigantic catalog... Baby, you got a stew going.

I was just there last fri, picked up a S110v manix. It never crossed my mind to ask if he or Eric where even there :( please keep us informed if you meet him!

Talking to Sal at blade show each year over the prototype case is the highlight of my show. Him and Eric both are very friendly and informative. Would love to sit around a camp fire and share some beers with those guys. Good luck shaking the mans hand dude

I took a trip to Colorado in 2012 with my family to stay with some friends in Littleton. We visited the SFO and talked to a few super nice people. Sal was walking in and he said "You look familiar" and we shook hands and talked a bit. Such good folks there. Wife took a pic of me with Sal and then Sal took a pic of my wife and I. It was real nice. I bought a Manix 2 there as well. :)

This makes me think I should call again - I haven't heard back. A second call should show that I'm not likely to flake out after they go through the trouble of scheduling a meeting.

I didn't call and make an appointment or anything. I walked in and I think it was around 10am or 11am. Good times.

Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Was eating before blade show and ran into Sal and Gail and spoke with them for a little while. Also in the show he was conversing with anyone that stopped by. Eric was also super nice. I spoke with him about the Manix 2 for a while and he was very appreciative of the praise. I would definitely have a beer or 6 with that family. Like stated above, looking through the prototype display with Sal is a treat and worth the trip to blade on its own. Talking steel and materials and processes the entire time. He loves that stuff.

Ayep. After I had a few Spydercos I found out more about the people who make Spyderco. I am very impressed and will continue to support them.

Good luck OP on your quest. I hope to make it to blade show one day and do the same.

Let us know how things go with getting a meeting...and if you do get to meet him, at the end be sure to kiss him! Big wet one right on the lips!*

*Just kidding, don't do this.

Looks like I'll be meeting him in a few days. Time for the SFO pilgrimage #3.

I got to hang with him for a bit when I was a youngster. I had a family member working there. He showed me a bunch of stuff that were prototypes at the time.

Well, the day is off to a rocky start. I was sucker punched by a hobo after I called him out for faking getting his arm stuck in the door of the free downtown bus (defrauding a free public service...!) - right after he steps off, he swings his hand back and hits me right in the cheek and runs off. So, unless someone there has makeup, I'm going to have a shiner (or a badge of civic duty) for my picture with Mr. Glesser.
