Today is Dec. 1, man last month blew by..

I'm surprised there are as few entries as there are I would think there would be much more.. As for myself I procrastinated and before I knew it was Thanksgiving and I ended up getting sick for almost a week.. And I'm curious what has happened to others as well, I mean this is a HUGE, VERY generous giveaway!!!

I was just curious if today was the ultimate deadline or is there a 'grace period' between now and mid December.. Just wondering as I've seen other contests exceed expected time-lines.. If not no biggie here, totally my fault for waiting..... you snooze you lose....

Thanks again ESEE for your generosity to all of us here on the forums it is not taken lightly...

Take care,
Rob

well i fell off doing this. mostly because my "bushbuddy" took leave when one of his family members had a horrible car accident and his family needed him at home(outta state-he is still there taking care of his sisters kids while she recuperates in a care facility) not a good excuse but i really wanted a partner in this escapade...and i trust this guy, he knows his way around in the woods, and is afraid of nothing.

I just don't have a place where I can get serious about stuff like this and just do what I need to do. I diddle around in some property behind dad's place at home. It aint ours so I don't just bushwack back there. The rest of the woods available to me is govt. property. :(

God bless,
Adam

Not sure on the Grace period or what not is up to Jeff & Mike P ,since they are in control due to waiver forms ETC....

October and November have absolutely been the busiest months I've had in years. Everytime I planned an outing, something came up. Without fail. I actually am still going to do "the contest" but I know my entry will not be considered, but I said I was going to do it, I'm going to do it. I have 11 days off after Christmas, and I plan on making it happen.

I don't want a grace period, I had 2 months to get it done. Those guys that entered, within the timeframe, should really be the only ones considered, IMO. They busted their butts, got it done, and should be held in high regards. I still want to do it, to test my skills, but I do not want to be considered as a contest entry.

YMMV

I would encourage those of you who didn't get a chance to participate, to go ahead and make the effort whether the contest is extended or not, I really learned a lot by creating my entry. I would have liked to see more contest entries just because I think it is a fantastic prize and really neat idea. I certainly understand how doing the entry gets put off, I am an expert procrastinator :D .

I had a few false starts, spent some weekends playing around in some woods nearer to my house but where they prohibit overnight stays, just trying to explore and see what it would take to build a shelter there. When I did finally take some vacation time to do the entry, the first day they were forecasting wind gusts up to 35 mph and cold, not ideal for camping or kayaking :).

Now I'm modifying my PSK contents, and I think I'd like to try again with what I've learned. I enjoyed seeing the other contestant's entries also.

Moose, are they still trying to find some red ink for your "midlife career change classification" ???
I have a red Sharpie I can send ya' if you need it, "Moderator" is gonna look real good beside that moose head . . . :)
Be safe.

yup the guys who did get out and do this challenge rock!
and like you moose, i'm still gonna do this. as soon as kyle gets back in town. for my own experience. there are skills i need to work on.
kudos to those who meet the challenge!

I had a weekend planned to dedicate to the contest and at the last minute I ended up having my children for the weekend. Which is always a great thing, but wasn't desired for the weekend.

I decided to take them with me and teach them how to build a shelter. In the little time we had, we built an A-frame shelter and a fire with nothing more than an RC-4 and a firekit w/dryer lint.

I didn't feel right posting the pics to the contest, because I wanted to do so much more.

All in all it was a great weekend. I was with my kids in the woods, doesn't get any better than that!

Yeah, the mod thing is cool, but its new, the busy I was talking about was my dayjob, the one that keeps me in mocassins.:D

In the last 2 months, I been from California, to Texas, to New Jersey, all week long trips, for whiney ass clients, that spend too much time on their ass, sheaths orders are going out the door finally, and Oh, did I mention I'm a single parent of 2 girls? Not in reality, but my wife works nights, and I keep my daughters in the evenings, I get 2 weekends a month (my girls go stay with grandma the other 2), to be a husband to my wife, and catch up on crap around the house. I had 3 occations in the 2 months the contest ran, to get out, but shit just kept coming up, it seemed like.

Shoulda seen my yard, I could have went "survival" in it and got lost:D

I completely understand the busy thing - I even took a day of vacation and still almost didn't do it because of the weather.
On the plus side, I'm guaranteed placing in the top 10, which is a best for me at this kind of stuff. :D
(sort of like the old saying - I may be bottom of the totem pole at work, but at home I'm second in command!)
I'm also planning on doing this again, because I made a lot of mistakes and learned some significant lessons I want to try again.

There were some pretty impressive entries, I do not envy the judges.

I was in and out of hospital for the whole contest duration asn i also thought there would be more entries. As others have said i am feeling better now and i will still get out and try my hand at this because it is a good thing to know and get familiar with and fun. Good luck to all entries.

Was a great contest, those who submitted entries did really well. I hope they do this again some day.
