Mega Dart

Does anyone remember the Mega Dart (Megadart?) pistol? It fired a steel dart using rubber band power. I saw them advertised in Shotgun News around 1985-87.

Do not confuse this item with toy guns firing harmless rubber projectiles. There is no doubt that Mega Dart could inflict a killing wound at close range.

I believe they were available for only a short time. As to the reason Mega Dart was discontinued I'm not sure whether the government banned them or they performed so poorly that they were not popular for very long.

I had one of those! It was too cool, had to watch out for the surgical tube snapping forward. Once we were shooting spitballs out of it, one dried up in there and next time we shot it that spitball left a helluva welt on my buddys face ( we were all out of darts ) Haven't seen one in years.

I keep looking for the Mega Dart to show up on the auction sites. So far I haven't seen any mention of it. I think a web search for Mega Dart brings up a few references to Nerf toys.

I also remember the Annihilator BB machinegun which I think is still available...

Hehe- an environmentalist's nightmare; a bb machine gun that ran on automotive freon! I wanted one, but they were already having legal troubles when I saw a review.
