Today I spent several hours helping an old friend clean out her pawn shop. She has already given me over thirty thousand dollars worth of jewelers equipment, gemstones, diamonds, and gold supplies ( even the stuff I bought was so cheap it was mostly a gift).
She closed the shop about two months ago, and has been getting the old pawns picked up and then held the auction to get rid of the unclaimed pawns. That still leaves a lot of old stuff that was for sale and boxes of junk in the back. There is also still some equipment in the work room.

We started in the very back, and went through each box and shelf as we moved forward. The nice things we put up front for a big yard sale she will have in a week or two. There are old tool bags and boxes sitting everywhere with odds and ends and loose old tools in them. Then there is the single tools sitting around on the shelves. As we would come to these items, she would say, " That is too old/dirty/bad shape to sell, you take it. Other items she would ask me if I wanted it, and if I did, she would set it in my pile. By the time we were done, my pile was huge. I brought it all home and spent a couple hours sorting the tools into buckets. I have about fifty pounds of sockets and wrenches in one bucket alone. There was a karaoke outfit, the watchmakers bench, saws, drills, belt feed screw guns, Hand tools, framing hammers, the compressor, hoses, electrical supplies, a stack of tape measures and roofing knives, some old pocket knives, an antique cleaver, Drill bits and bit sets ( Mac, Craftsman, and others)and on and on. Many of the tools are name brand - Craftsman, Snap-on, Stanly, etc.)

I took some photos of the buckets and sorted out stuff before I stowed it away. I will be giving a lot of this to folks who need tools and don't have them or can't afford them.

Here are some more shots. The trombone case will be re-fitted as a sword case. That's the karaoke set with Bose speakers and a box of microphones and cords next to it.

Curious if you would be willing to sell the karaoke setup. I think the youth group at my church would love that!

Did the beer come with the watchmaker's bench? She must really like you. Congratulations.

You da man Stacy. I say that, not only as you're such a helpful fella, but also because you seem to provide a powerful range of services for an awful lot of widows! ;)

I plan on putting the karaoke at our church. The youth can play around with it for fun. This is a UK-8000 home video karaoke system that uses a VCR and TV for the playback, and a multiplexer for the sound control. The music tapes are VCR type. I haven't checked on the availability of the tapes, but there are five with the system, each with 8 songs in two different formats. I'm guessing ebay is going to be my friend in finding more. At the very worst, the multiplexer will be a good three channel mixer/amp. The Bose speakers are really nice, too, and I can always use the box full of microphones and cables anyway.

Yes, Phil, widows like me. At first I thought that they got off by having a virile man around, but later realized that it was because I am old and harmless. I used to hope for sex from young single women, now I hope for cookies from old single women :) Mainly, it is because I listen to them. It is lonely when you have spent your whole life with people around and now live all by yourself.

Over the past 30+ years, I have accumulated way too many jewelers benches and watchmakers benches. I have them stashed all over town in peoples garages and shops. I tell them to use the bench and if I need it I'll give them a call. Most of them will never come back, and that is a good thing. In the new shop I will have a room with five benches set up. Each will do a specific function.
