Mel Pardue custom: Do they hold value?

I've been eyeing a Mel Pardue as my first true custom folder. I'm a relative newbie although I've been buying production and limited knives for years, on and off. I have Benchmade, a Sebbie 21, and 2 William Henry's, among other older knives like Cold Steel and Gerber.

I really like this particular Pardue custom folder (new, from a dealer), but do not know if his knives hold value. I am not buying for investment (if I were I'd be buying XM-18's (*_*), but just want to know what the community thinks about this knife-maker. Thanks in advance for any info. This is my first post.

PS: I tend to buy smaller folders (3" blades) for light EDC and fondling.

I'm no expert on his knives or knife values but Mel's work is first rate, quite well known and I don't see why it wouldn't hold value. If you like the knife and if on inspection it looks and feels good to you it sounds like it would make an excellent choice for your first custom. For what it's worth, I personally like his work quite a bit.
PS Welcome to the forums!

HJK,

Thanks for the prompt response. I'm really craving it and am working on the wife as we speak (she is worried I have an addiction). I will also add that I have a Damascus fetish, which does nothing for the wife but makes me happy. Thanks again for the reply.

You certainly have come to the right place ;)

Thank you for that input, Doc 904. I went ahead and ordered it online. I'll post pics upon delivery.

Just curious here - if you're not buying for investment, then why worry of "they hold value"?

If you like it - buy it! ;)

Kind regards,

Jos

Just curious. Some things hold value and some don't. And while I have no plans to sell my knives, you never know. But I took your advice and bought.

Your featured knife left ME speechless. As a newbie, I am flabbergasted by the talented knife-makers on this site.

Thanks locutus I had some of the best teachers a knife maker could ever ask for. I couldn't agree more there are many talented makers on BF.
