Melamine Handle Bucks

Tele, HKingdom and Larry Oden have many of those models . I'm sure Larry has a complete set . They were only offered by Buck from 1961-63 and are very difficult to find . I believe all are of barrel nut construction . They are handsome models . DM

I wish I could just hold one... Someday, I will find one or a set... ITE ... ... :D ...

If anybody can its you 'E' . Good hunting . DM

Speaking of 'E', that made me think about triple 'E' or Evil Eye Earl? He has an incredible and extensive collection, but this reminds me of his absence of late?

Perhaps he will see this and show some melamine Bucks!

Peter

Are they the "holy grail" of Buck Knives? I'd like to see better pictures than the ones in KW.

Yes, I'd say the melamine handle Bucks are in the catagory of 'holy grail' of Buck knives .
There are several in that catagory though . DM

There is an interesting article on these knives in a recent BCCI newsletter. They are collectors' items, but Melamine turned out to not be the greatest handle material due to its cracking in extreme weather conditions. IMO Sambar Stag is the way to go...

But yes, Melamine handled knives are very collectable for their historical value.
