Fear of spammers harvesting the members' email addresses from the list. I'm not sure if that was actually happening or not, but a lot of people were afraid it was happening or might happen in the future, so we had to take it down.

maybe this is a coincedence but during my brief banning vacation from BF..my spam email also dropped from 30 spam emails a day to less than 5. and after reinstatement..right back to 30+ spam emails a day.

Seriously, spammers can't get your address from Bladeforums and even if they somehow did they certainly wouldn't stop spamming you just because you didn't post.
