Membership expiry dates?

My Gold membership expired 2 months ago. I noticed this in January, but my account was still listed as a Gold member. I wrote to the BF admin at the time asking if I should renew or if the system would prompt me automatically after a certain grace period or whatever, but got no reply.

I have noticed other folks right here at the Cantina whose Gold memberships expired 6 months ago or even longer, and yet they are still active and posting pictures, etc.

Now, overnight with no answer to my question, it looks like I am a "registered user" and I guess all my archived PM's are wiped out?

Any idea how this works? Is it hit or miss as to who stay Gold and who re-registers, or are other factors involved?

Thanks for any info.

Happened to me a while ago, too. If someone hadn't mentioned that I had been 'demoted' to registered, I wouldn't have noticed, either.

OK, Aardvark, thanks, but maybe you can help me out here then. Your Gold Membership expired 6 1/2 months ago according to your profile. So what's up?

I intend to re-subscribe. The inconsistency and unequal application of the rules is what I am asking about.

Thanks!

Mine expires 08/20/05. Not sure what you are looking at??

Interesting! Your public profile says that your paid membership expires on 8/18/2004. But then other GM's don't have that membership info in their profiles. (?)

I also noticed that other registered users are posting pictures, which I can no longer do. Maybe they are really Gold Members and there is just a delay in getting their status updated?

Confusing. Made more so because my emails asking about this stuff are not being answered.

Thanks,

Norm

Well, when Spark says he has the system automated he means it! Everything came back after renewal. Only thing I can figure is that some of the bio screens either take a while to get renewed or don't get updated at all after a subsequent renewal, and still give old expiration info.

As long as it works...!

Norm, go too the Service and Support Forum and ask Spark what's going on. Spark always reads that forum without fail and will answer there as well. Saves everyone a lot of time and generally misery as well. It may take a day or three but either he will get too it or one of the Super Mods will.

Here's the linky....

Edit:
Guess you don't need it now.:D ;)

Thanks very much anyway Yvsa! Learned a lot real fast. 1, that you are correct and posting to Spark at that thread is the absolute best way to go, and that e-mail is the least efficient. Also, that the info screens are inconsistent and somewhat misleading depending upon the user, and it don't seem to have a pattern.

For instance, one registered user can post pics and another can't. Or one Gold Member will be expired but several will show info screens indicating their memberships expired months ago, however their personal screens at the User CP page will show the real dates to them only. (?) Difference between what Aardvark was seeing and I was. Also, you can now renew for multiple years, which is neat.

Anyway, the nice thing about the new automated system is that your status is returned instantly, and evidently Spark stashes your PM's and sig line somewhere for a while so you get it all back right away when you renew.

Thanks for the assistance.
