So is a person who runs a knife retail site, mentions that site on the forum in a thread in GKD, and in that same thread posts pictures of knives available for sale on that site supposed to have a retailer membership, or does a Gold suffice?

I see that on the Paid Memberships page, under Gold it notes:

Please note: if you are a Knifemaker, Retailer / Reseller, Manufacturer or Materials provider this is NOT the membership for you.

Shall I hunt around until I find this violation, or is it just a theoretical question?

Well, I wouldn't want to file an unfounded "nuisance report", I know the mod staff has their hands full, so let's call it "theoretical."

Tireless pursuit of knowledge kinda thing.

Is there a Woodstock in Russia?

Apparently there is! :D

Let's try another example.

Let's say you are the dealer for several brands in a country other than the United States, lets say someplace in SouthEast Asia, and you insist you are not trying to sell anything. But at the same time you post videos of the brands you sell, and end those videos with your contact number and the account name for the Instagram page where you sell your knives. Would a "Registered User" membership suffice for that?

Yeah, never hesitate to send in a report on this stuff. Anyone who is willing to try to skate around the very simple rules we have for selling here is going to do unethical things when it comes to taking people's money. Our membership fees are very low, our policies are very lenient, and if someone has the time to be posting slick videos, they you can't tell me they can't afford under $30 a month for a dealer membership

OK...how about a Basic Member displaying his personally built knives in the discussion threads in GKD, as well as including a link in his sig block to his website where his knives are for sale?

Sharing and chatting about is one thing, what's bold is advertising.

marcinek, you waste more of our time with your theoreticals than you would with a report. Give us a link, give us a fact.

Give us a what-if and we go back to ignoring your reports because you give us nothing to work with.
