I know they bladeforums forums shows member plans. Whats the advantages of Gold Membership over basic? Does it give me more access to forums?
 
Can I buy without a membership? I want to see if a knife builder will make me a good Keychain knife for my work.

Would you recommend I get gold? What do you mean by PM capacity?

Yes you can buy without a paid membership. PM = private messages. If you don't ever plan to sell here, Gold won't really serve any purpose except to support the site, which is never a bad thing.

Yes, you can buy without a membership. You can also solicit a maker to build something for you. You don't need to pay for those privileges here.

You do have to pay to send and receive private messages, and in order to sell.
 
and if you want to have a little more swagger in your step, you go for platinum like my friend JLauffer, here.

And lets not forget that your generous purchase of a membership helps to give knife addicts like us a home. for $30 a year, roughly 8 cents a day, you can help keep vagrants like me a place to focus our energy, there by protecting our loved ones from having to hear about the latest knife find we've discovered.

Thank you! I was looking for a thread to introduce myself but I didn't see one. Maybe I overlooked it. Relatively new to knives ( about a year) but eager to keep learning.

Membership is worth it if you have the cash.

Since mine lapsed, the days are a tad more grey...and I have to see ads. :(
 
I probably will join as it's only 8 cents a day lol. Bladeforums needs to give you a commission check lol. I'll probably sell some of my knives so it will probably be worth it. How's the Balisong community here? I have a lot of auto, otf, balisongs, and a ton of Benchmade but balisongs is what I have the most of.
 
Welcome to Bladeforums andreamiller.

A Gold membership or higher also allows you to post pictures directly from your computer. Otherwise you would have to use a photo hosting site like Imgur, etc. We really like seeing pictures of peoples knives.

And a Gold or higher also lets you ask what a knife might be worth, which can help if you decide to sell one and don't have any idea what it's worth.

There are both Balisong/butterfly, and switchblade/auto forums here at Bladeforums. There is also a Benchmade forum in the "Manufacturers" section. To see a directory of all the different forums click on the white "Forums' button in the blue banner across the top of the screen.
