Couple weeks ago we discovered mice in the house...long story short we spent the better part of a week pulling crap out of closets, setting traps, and cleaning.

So on to the point...one of the boxes I pulled from the closet was an old memento box from high school (I'm now in my early 40's). I had it out, so I figured, "what the hell, let's take a look". What did I find? My first knife...given to me by my childhood friend, Garth Baldwin. I have no clue where Garth is now...our friendship dissipated before primary school (he was about 2 years older which made him an adult as far as I was concerned:p). I believe I was 6 years old when he gave it to me. I remember he offered it to me early, but my parents insisted I reach age X (can't remember the actual age) before they would let me possess my own pocket knife. I became a bit of a knife fanatic later in life, so I never really paid attention to the model. I have been wondering what happened to this knife for years...Eureka!

I believe it's a SAK - the SA cross was worn off when he gave it to me. The main blade has "Colonial" inscribed. It now resides in my Gerstner chest amongst more expensive knives, but none more valuable.

Its always cool to find something that takes you back to your childhood,
Enjoy the memories

Colonial made knives similar to the Victorinox SAKs more like a US version or camp knife, a lot of these were popular with Boy Scouts, . I believe I even have the same knife with the BSA logo stamped into the red plastic.

It's always nice to find old treasure especially if it was your own misplaced/lost treasures.

Enjoy your find. :)

Thanks for the info, from what I could tell it's a pretty common model/brand. But treasured none-the-less.

Awesome. I have an old Colonial Mountain Guide that my dad used a lot when I was a kid. It's in terrible shape, half of the tools I can't even open. The key ring is torn off, as is the corkscrew. He's not much of a knife guy, so when someone gave him a Vic 10 or 15 years ago, he was gonna toss this, but I snagged it to hang onto.
