I hope everyone has some nice plans for the weekend, but please don't forget what it's really about, honoring our servicemen. My Dad was a sergeant in the Army in WW II in the Pacific theater, I've got quite a few old photos. Uncle Joe and Uncle John were both in the Army in the European theater, and Uncle Bill was in the Navy. Dad has been gone 12 years now, but on Sunday we will be going to the cemetery to put some flowers on all their graves.

Thanks for keeping the true memory alive. I lost 3 friends when I was in Iraq, and My grandpa's brother was killed in Italy during WWII, and my Grandmother's cousin was in Easy company during WWII and died while clearing a village. It's always a hard weekend for me as I take it and truly remember those that I have lost to war, those who gave all to help protect our country.

It's too easy to get lost in the cookouts and the extra day off, thanks for reminding us what it is all about. I don't know of any close relatives that served during the wars, but my dad, brother, 2 sisters, and myself all served, so it is an important date for us.

I do enjoy the parades though, they usually have some nice military-related stuff in there.

I am truly thankful to every man and woman who has given of themselves so that I can enjoy the freedom I have. I did not serve but have several family members who did.

My grandfather and several uncles & great uncles all served in WWII - and made it home alive.
One great uncle is still alive from that generation.

My dad, both uncles, cousin, and my son were all in the military. My dad actually talked me out of joining back in the 80s after high school. I am grateful for their service, experiences, and thank them and all who have and are serving.

I didn't lose any relatives that I know of, and did't serve during any "wars" myself, but I did lose some friends while I was in.
May they, and all those lost before and after them rest in peace.I will always remember.

My old boss, now good friend is coming over for dinner Sunday.
He's a Nam Vet, drove fuel tanker trucks, they were prime targets and boy does he have stories.

afraid we haven't been able to do much of anything yet but we still hope to do our graveyard run early next week at least.

thanks to all, hope you all had a safe and happy day

I hope this day finds you all well with loved ones. And I'd like to give thanks and prayers to all those that served and their familys who sacraficed so much so we could have a place as simple as this to speak our minds and share the things we love.
I'm getting ready to go to my folks and have a bbq and remember those that we've lost and miss.
