I hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day weekend.

I am sitting here reflecting on something I overheard today, and it is a bit disheartening, but I am going to leave it be for now.

Please take a moment and remember what this holiday is truly about. There are so many that have given it all in the pursuit of our freedom. Also, please remember those who have stayed behind and suffered the loss of there spouse, mother, father, son, or daughter protecting our freedom. Without the selfless acts of our brave men and women, this freedom would be a dream. Through their sacrifice, it is possible for me to raise my children in a free America and pursue my passion of creating knives. I am forever indebted to those who have given all and those who continue to pursue our freedom now and in the future.

Thank you to everyone who have served and continue to serve.

Great post Allen. I hear ya loud and clear. Shame there are so many with a lack of respect for those who make America the greatest country on Earth.

 Amen to that Allen. I like to watch "Saving Private Ryan" every Memorial Day weekend to help remind me of the ultimate sacrifice made by our veterans to keep us free.

Posted in the Fiddleback Forum, but Allen's post gave me the idea. Forgive the duplicate posting please for those that follow both these forums.

I packed up my 8th grade classroom for the final time this week after 22 years of teaching. On this Memorial Day, I thought it fitting to lay out the flags that have hung on my classroom walls all these years.

Obviously, the weapons didn't hang with them!

Culpeper Minutemen
Betsy Ross
Fort Sumter
First National Confederate
50 Star United States

Fiddleback 3 Finger Karda, W.A. Surls Bog Oak Inlander, and a beauty from Carl that I got at TrackRock.

And associated items and reproductions from the Revolution, Civil War, WW1, WW2, and Vietnam era. Forgive the inauthenticities please. Not all these weapons are period accurate.

Thank you to all who served.
