On this day Memorial Day 2012, lets all take a moment and reflect on just what this day means....its not about a day off work, or even barbeque...its about paying respect for the thousands of hero's who gave us this great country, and actually freedom and liberty throughout the free world. Untold millions owe that moment of respect! Its the very least we can do. I know for myself if it if it wasnt for that young GI making his way off the landing craft at Normandy into a hail of MG-42 fire or that young soldier heading up Mt. Surabachi on Iwo taking fire from unknown positions, the guy on Heartbreak ridge in Korea waiting for the next wave of communists to rush up the hill, the combat medic at Kha Sahn going from position to position treating his wounded comrades, or the Joe heading down the street in Faluja, and the young soldier heading into the unknown in Afganistan. All these Hero's and more is the reason I am here making knives and living my dream. Your damn right I'm going to take a moment out of this day and show my respects! I'm also going to stand vigil every single day and protect what they gave their life for. You try to take my freedom and Liberties away you will feel the wrath of thousands of American heros who gave their lives for my freedom!

Thank you for remembering our Hero's!

Very well said. To those that made the ultimate sacrifice, active military, vets, widows, widowers, children, our eternal thanks. May the universe reward them.

I remeber and will not forget. From the most televised parade to the stars on the wall, the unknown and the MIA, I will not forget.

Here's to all those that gave. Be it the ultimate sacrifice, a lifetime of service or just a couple years of service, I, and my family are truly grateful for every second.

Here, here, Rick!

Always remember what the price of freedom really is.
Never take it for granted.

Freedom is not free, it was paid for by our country's men and women serving now and in the past. Some giving it all others leaving pieces of their bodies so we can be free, I will never forget the sacrafice that they made, God bless America!
Joe

My thoughts go out to all those serving, served and fallen.

For UK Remembrance day is in november, for New Zealand and Australia ANZAC day is in April.

Only the other day I was looking through old family photos, my great granddad in the trenches of the great war, my granddad looking smart in his naval uniform in Cape Town 1942 and my father in the Falkland Islands. I can only imagine what they and many others had to go through.

I made a chance discovery whilst looking through my family tree a few weeks ago, my great great great grandad lost with the HMS Captain in 1870, sank with the loss of 500 crew.

I give my thoughts to all who have fought and sacrificed, I give my thoughts to all who are currently in harms way and wish them a safe return
.
