Just finished with the "WoodChuck" treatment for the new Memorial Salyan I got from the DOTD.

Beautiful work on the Brass filled engraving.

Left side of handle. Interseting bands. I thought they may be burn marks from the
buffing wheel but didn't want to sand much further.
They add character :D

Right side of handle.

Neem and Tuni handles both just glow from the WoodChuck Tru-Oil Treatment.
I just can't really capture the radiance of these woods with my camera.

Very nice job, ALBPM.

Do you wax the Tru-Oil when you're done? I put some cleaning wax (Meguiar's) on the last several that I've done. Not a huge difference, but I think there's a little added protection. I use TreWax paste wax, too. Lots of carnuba.

No, I haven't put anything on top of the Tru-Oil yet.
I use Zainos on my cars (Polymer Based) I wonder how that would look???

The Tuni handle had 4 coats of Danish Oil first than the Tru-oil.

Which result do you like better? And why did you do the Danish Oil first? Thanks.

I did the danish Oil first on the drier woods then the Tru-Oil for the shine. On the Neem I did the Tru-Oil only.

I've also experimented with Tung Oil first which will darken the wood a bit.

If a Khuk is going the be used a lot I would only do the danish oil and leave the handle a bit rough for a good grip. The showier Khuks which I won't use and beat up get the Tru-Oil finish. The Tru-Oil does make the handle slippery
and wouldn't be good for a Khuk that will be used a lot.

That's just wavy grain patterns on the one side of the handle. You didn't eff it up. It is just some dayum fine wood that's all. Ever heard of wavy maple. Thats what they're referring to.

the banding definitely looks like curl....like curly maple. Cool stuff!

Nice woodchucking.

I didn't comment earlier on your pics. Some of the best I've seen. I mean you really did capture the brass inlaid script. And the grain patterns too. Great job!!:)
