Hello,
Many of you may have heard that my father passed away last week. He was a farrier and blacksmith, one of the very best, of 40 + years. He pulled a small trailer for his shoeing rig, equiped with gas forge, anvil and associated tools, a small band saw, drill press and bench grinder. There is also a small 2X48 belt sander and other farriers tools.
I want to turn this rig into a mobile knife shop in Dad's memory. He loved my work and dabbled in knifemaking himself. He is actually the reason I became a knifemaker in the first place, so I feel it is fitting. This will take a little work to get converted, and will need some things. Mainly, I wanted to see if anyone had a "fixer-up" belf grinder they could donate. The porpose of this rig will be for demonstrations and for other makers to use at shows and get togethers for repairs or whatever else. So the donation would be for the good of us all. Any other stuff such as epoxy or pinstock, general hand tools and assorted materials would be great too. With help from other makers, this could be a really great asset to us all.
Dad's legacy to his business is that he taught countless farriers who have become exceptional in their own right, made National champions out of average horses, and left a trail of friendships that were most precious to him. This rig could help me carry his legacy on to my knife family.
I would appreciate any help, and will make every effort to make sure it is used apopriately for our benfit.
Feel free to call me at (903)968-2029, or post here and receive recognition for your help, becasue I want to give it to those that do help.
