Hey - no Emerson content, just nostalgia. I'm moving to a new apartment in a few weeks, so tonight (like most nights) I'm packing. As I was sorting through stuff from my closet, I came across my dad's USN Ka-Bar. The finish is worn, and the sheath is beat to sh!t, but it's still got a good edge! I hit it with a Tuf-cloth, and put it away for the move. Talk about a flashback! And, I found the Gerber Command II I bought when I was in high school - still pristine after all these years. Pretty cool to find nice stuff you'd forgotten you had. :)

The Ka-bar is a formidable knife, even after all these years.

You got me thinking. I can remember finding a Cold Steel Tanto about a year ago. I'd bought that thing when they first came out. I think I was still in High School. Christ, if I recall correctly I was sweating the $125 bucks it cost me. Sort of my first step into "expensive" knives. :D

I hear ya, John. Just holding it made me feel meaner. :D It's a BIG knife, too - which was surprising. It's also weird to see "USN" stamped on the metal of the sheath, since I always thought they only gave 'em to Jarheads. :)

It's got this cool worn look to it, also - the blacking has been removed from the high spots on the blade from the sheath, so it's selectively dark and shiny. :D

Hmmmmmmm memories.

I remember unpacking looking through some boxes after moving into this house and finding one of my first knives. A Benchmade Balisong. Started flipping it like I did when I practiced it.

It is pretty cool to find stuff that has been forgotten with time and to refind it an put a smile on your face.

Now if I can just find some money in these boxes so I can make more, future, memories :D
