Gang- My Dad's go-to folder was a Case Fishing Knife folder. He still has this knife, I think.
Anyway, about a month ago I held a friends folding hunter and the way that folder felt took me right back to how my Dad's folder felt in my hand when I was young. These traditionals feel just so good in the hand. They are just well thought out designs.
So, I will be carrying my new AGR Sowbelly for a long time. I guess this can be called, full circle.

Awesome post. Thanks, Rolf.

Those classic designs have a lot of something special, but ergos aint one of 'em. Although that snowbelly might hit some magic crease, it looks to be the opposite shape of my grip. Too small and stiff for me.

Edit: Hey OP, sorry if I hurt your feelings. I guess I should be vapidly patting your back for posting. It looks like knarfeng has taken offense and is red carding me for being "insulting" and "trolling". For the life of me don't see how I am detracting from a conversation or being insulting in any way.

Looks like a classic case of the old fearing the new, and with good reason. Those old case slip-joints are outdated and at most hold sentimental value.

Whether a knife - traditional or not - has ergos, is a matter of opinion. The OP saying it does, and you saying it doesn't, are both opinions, not fact, so one cannot say the other is wrong. Perhaps if you had said something along the lines of, 'I don't think ergos is one of them', rather than straight up saying that 'ergos ain't one of 'em', it might have been taken differently. Also, saying 'although that sowbelly might hit some magic crease', - while I understand not liking a knife because it doesn't fit your hand- the way you wrote it makes it sound like the OP would have to have some crazy hands or something, as it sounds like it would take magic for someone to like the way it fit their hand. One has to remember that this is a forum, and as such, tones of voice and other things cannot always be realized in the way they can face-to-face. An easy way to do things is to ask yourself if you would say things that way to your mother/grandmother/someone you definitely respect. Having seen your other posts, and certain replies to said posts, I would recommend taking a moment to simmer down. Everyone's not out to get you, and one must accept that they cannot always be right. Sure, getting used to the forum can be confusing at times, but after a while it's really not an issue. If I want to discuss a knife that doesn't meet the trad standards, I simply go to another forum.

I might add, I'm not an 'old' fearing the new, and I'm most definitely one of the younger members here, but rather have been around my share of knives, and simply prefer the ones that just so happen to fit into this category. I'm not sure why you choose to pick on case (especially since I would definitely say that gec, rather than case, is king around here, which you will find if you spend enough time around here) But to say they're 'outdated and at most hold sentimental value' is again an opinion, and not fact, but the way you state it (whether you intended it that way or not) is as though your opinion is the only valid one, and it can be inferred that anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron. I also don't see how you can make that statement, as traditional knives are no less useful or functional than modern ones, they just look different.

-another opinion.

Thank you, Gentlemen. Thank you for the compliment, knarfeng, and the other input and opinions.
Carry on.

Rolf, there just comes a time in life when you appreciate the finer things in life. While I love all kinds of knives, I have figured out that the traditional designs have been around for a long time for a reason.

Thank you, Kevin. ... "for a reason," is correct.
I love my modern folders but I am back with a traditional, at this time. <I have learned to add this.

Fully understand what you are trying to say Lycosa. My first knife was a Case Fishing Knife in yellow delrin. When I got my GEC Toothpick just holding it brought back a lot of childhood memories.

Good post.

Thanks, Halfneck.
The Yellow Delrin is so nice, that I bought an AGR folding hunter in it.
These knives worked well back then as they do today. Why pay more?
