hey, can any of you guys help me get this for a decent price?
1GB, SDRAM, PC133, ECC, CL2, DIMM, 133Mh

(It has to be CL2.)
I need to beat 250$

Hey Danny, what make and model computer do you have? Or if it's home built whats the make and model of the Motherboard? I ask because most computers that used the PC133 Dimms don't work with Gig sticks. Don't want you buying something you can't use.

But if thats not an issue, I can get my hands on PC133 1GB Dimms threw my job. Email me and I can check on pricing. :)

I have a 2001 motherboard.
1 ghz cpu, 133 mhz
CL2
I dont know anything about motherboard limits...
Intel pentium III
right now i have 256 mb of ram, but I want to jack in to the matrix, so i need a BUTTLOAD of ram.

Do you already have your Matrix glasses? You'll need them you know...

Also...remember that *everyone* there is already a Kung Fu Master...so you better practice up some before ya go.

Don’t try to alter your motherboard. That's impossible. Instead, realize the truth…there is no motherboard.

…follow the white rabbit.

I am looking for the memories from many nights I had in college. There are a whole mess of black spaces in there.

That's funny. I've got a whole bunch of black spots, and more than a few particularly vivid memories I wish I didn't have.

You black spots people are all alike! HeeeHee!
Silly me. I think in blue, myself! Wo is me!

Do you only have one memory slot available? I'm just a little bit confused about why you need to have a 1 GB DIMM. A PIII won't really be able to effectively use more than 1GB anyway, so you may want to consider just gettting two 512 MB sticks instead, as long as you have two RAM slots available. Just ditch the 256 MB stick you have now, or sell it on ebay.

FYI you can get a 512 MB stick from newegg for $81. http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146305

Hey look, 4000 posts. Do I get a prize?

You get an honorable mention. A lot has happened in the time it took you to get 4000 posts.

I'd give you an Honorable Mention, but *my* memory is shot and I don't remember the topic...

Danny, what we're trying to do is figure out the capabilities and limits of your motherboard. It may or may not accept 1GB of mammary Doh! errrr I mean memory in ANY configuration :D

Please do this:
1) Go here and read about the program.
2) Download the program.
3) Download the patch.

Next:
1) Install HWInfo32145.exe as normal, accepting all the defaults.
2) Move HWInfo32145_patch.exe into the C:\Program Files\HWiNFO32\ folder.
3) Double click on HWInfo32145_patch.exe and type in a ficticous name. Click on 'generate'. The program is now yours :D
4) Start HWiNFO32 from the start menu in windows as normal. Click on continue.
5) In the left hand window pane of the program, highlight 'Motherboard'.
6) From the right hand window pane of the program, copy the 'MotherBoard Model' and 'MotherBoard Chipset' verbatim and post it here on the forum.
7) Give us geeks about 15 seconds to figure out what your computer will accept as an upgrade in memory.

...I'll only leave these links up for a day or two before removing.

ASUS CUSL2-C
Intel 815EP+ICH2
7XPCI, 1XAGP v.2.0

It has 3 memory slots available, one has 256 mb, the other two are empty.
the internet said" maximum capacity was 512mb", but i dont understand if t hat was maximum per slot or maximum for the computer...

BillTheCat - My system scanned that link you posted, but it overloaded and I bluescreened and had to reboot.

*Thanks* :D

Thanks for tech details. Ok, here we go...

System memory

-3 168-pin DIMMs with support of PC100/PC133 SDRAM
-3V PC133/100 SDRAM. Maximum 512MB PC133/PC100 non-ECC SDRAM
-Maximum supported memory size - 512 MBytes
-ECC is not supported

CPU & Chipset

-Supports only FCPGA Socket 370 processors Intel Pentium III with 100/133 MHz bus and Intel Celeron with 66 MHz bus
-Socket 370 for Intel FCPGA Pentium III 450MHz~933+MHz processors and Intel PPGA CeleronTM 333~566+MHz.

My recommendation is get some quality PC133 memory as a single 512MB stick or as two 256MB sticks. Stick with Corsair, Mushkin or Crucial. If the CPU is like the engine in a car, then the memory is like the transmission. Get quality and you'll notice the difference. Your looking at about $80 - $100.

Don't know how fast your CPU is now? But I believe (Ok forum geeks please chime in here...) you could upgrade to a Pentium III 1000 for $85.

You'll probaly have to change some settings in your BIOS to accept the PC133 memory if your using PC100 now. Or if you upgrade the CPU.

But notice the FSB range in your MotherBoard's BIOS is 66Mhz to 166Mhz in 1Hz increments. Also your chipset voltage range is Adjustable entre - 1.10vdc et +1.850vdc en pas de 0.025vdc. Can you say OVERCLOCK? This is always worthwhile to do if you system has decent cooling. If your not familiar with how to do this safely, ask a knowledgeable geek freind :)

Overall, I'd say the considerations are one of cost benefit versus performance increase. Might be cheaper in the long run to just buy a faster/newer computer with a great warranty?
