Um, Bill jackson on us 19 -probably the best selection in the area. I'm kind of spoiled, because I used to live close to alpine knives in new orleans, which was spectacular. Not far from my house is supposedly the best hamburger in st. Pete :El cap bar and baseball museum. Give me a shout if you want to meet up while you're down.

I think that Graceland is worth seeing even if you're not an Elvis fan, but that's just me! If you do decide to go, stay out of the surrounding neighborhoods. Other stuff:

Wonders Series at the Pyramid (downtown). It's the Art of the Motorcycle this year--numerous bikes both old and new.

National Ornamental Metal Museum--forging at it's finest with all kinds of artistic iron works.

Pink Palace Museum including the Imax.

Beale Street and surounding downtown areas..........up until about 10:00 p.m. After 10, like any urban area, the environment is liable to change on you (locals start coming out).

Our baseball farm team The Redbirds also plays downtown, but not sure what the schedule is like.

There are a few places that sell knives, but nothing special that I've found.

Cordova has numerous restaurants too (suburbs of Memphis out east).

Most of the above events have websites and Memphis has one too. Just be mindful that although it may not seem like when you drive around town, this is a major city and you have to use the same safety precautions that you use in any other. Common sense will go a long way and be careful where you park. A car without an alarm is an easy target. Stay out of the project areas downtown.

Sun studios offers a tour that is fantastic.

Visit Graceland.

Vist the Museum of Tolerance, which is a history of the Civil rights struggel. It is rather politicised, but still interesting. Mostly because it is located in the motel where Martin Luther King was shot. Well worth seeing.

Mud island, located in the Mississippi, used to have a scale model of the Mississippi, that rose and fell with the actual river. Not sure if it is still there.

Beale street has a large number of Blues clubs with amazing music.

And, should you need something for your soul, see if you can visit St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Cancer research center, which is a reaserch hospital for experimental pediatric oncology. It was established by Danny Thomas. It is a model of how things ought to be done, and if any forumites are looking for a worthy cause for their donations, it would be difficult to find a better one. :)

Hit the knife shops, gun shops, and all the cool places in the Beale St. area and get out.
Memphis is turning into the dumps.
Oh, and there is a Bass Pro there, too.
