Khukuri FAQ

Do the kamis ever use any sort of vise for work-holding? I can't begin to imagine doing any sort of metalworking without one.

When I look at these pix and my khuks, and then look at my workshop and the stuff I make, I feel ashamed...

Is there any way I could get my hands on some off that camoflage the sarge is wearing?

Terry,

I was wondering the same thing. A lot of the foliage here in Hawaii is alot brighter shades of green and yellow just like his camowear.

We have only one vise in the shop. The kamis don't use a vise much but use their feet as Sgt. Karka is doing. I noticed kumar uses his feet to hold the tongs. They amaze me.

If you want the camowear I'll ask Sgt. Karka is he can send some. Don't know what the cost might be. Shipping will be more than the clothes, most likely.

Khukuri FAQ

The camoflauge the Sergent is wearing is very similary to the Austrailian pattern. The next problem is where to get Austrailian military camoflauge in the USA or Canada. I have no idea. Maybe Rob can get it for a reasonable shipping cost.

Also, the color and pattern is similar to duck hunting camo. Take a look at a Cabela catalog. The duck hunting pattern has finer spots and detail.

The pattern is also similar to the Canadian airborne jump smock I have. Unfortunately, these are hard to find are collectors items. This regiment was disbanded in disgrace. Local surplus stores are selling the smock for 175 dollars.

A recent search to add some camo to my clothing options exposed me too a lot of different patterns.
