Menefee in New Zealand

Several months ago a friend of mine surprised everyone by telling us he was moving. Not your typical move however. He was selling his computer software business and had purchased a working vineyard in New Zealand! Sort of a semi-retirement.

When he left I gave him a swayback jack from Rick Menefee. It seemed like a useful knife for vineyard work. He just sent me this photo - he's been using it while mending nets. I believe the nets are to try and keep the wild hogs out.

So, Rick is going international!

What a great existence! Winery, New Zealand, semi-retired..sounds like Heaven. Nice Menefee too.

Everyone I've ever known who went to New Zealand never wanted to leave. Sounds like a great retirement.

I know a lawyer from L.A., who left the practice and bought a 120 acre coffee farm on the Kona coast of the Big Island in Hawaii. Sitting on his veranda at 1500 feet elevation, overlooking Kealakekua Bay and sipping a 100% Kona Italian roast (roasted about 100 feet away that morning) I thought he made a very good decision.

Dr. Bill, I hope your friend made an equally sound one. Sounds like he did!

Great story Bill, real nice gift,a very useful knife.

Bill,

I have become very good friends with Rick now, just talked to him today.

For some of you who don't know Rick - well if you do meet him?

You will like him, even though he is just an old red neck from Oklahoma......... :D:thumbup:

And he makes a pretty darn good knife too and they just keep getting better.

Rick my friend keep up the good work, congrats on going international.........
