despite the name, no it is not a magazine about knives. its a magazine about high end fashion. excessively high end if you ask me, some of the items and prices are laughable to me (this particular issue mentioned a gent who was excited to "finally find a decent watch for under $5000") but every once and a while I like to pick it up and skim through.

getting to the point; the recent issue I picked up I was surprised to see a section on EDC! they gave a couple example EDC bundles. designer watches, lighters, cigar cutters, sunglasses, and to my pleasant surprise, knives! but here's what I found odd, the knives they showcase were reasonable practical knives in reasonable practical price ranges, like a CRKT M16, or a laguiole folder. these of course are fine knives but it was just odd to me that they were presented alongside showy status items, almost everything in sharp is meant to turn heads among the rich and advertise your position amongst the elite, so why not the knives to? $1,995 on the ballpoint pen that the M16 was paired with? Or $10,700 on a watch but you're only willing to spend $45 on a matching knife? whats with the drop off? again these knives are fine and do the job but to me its almost the same as if the showcased one EDC that included Sebenza or a ZT 0560 and paired it with a bic lighter :P they're kind of in separate classes and a bic isn't exactly going to turn heads and that's what everything in this magazine is about.

just thought I would share that observation with you guys

Likely has a lot to do with price ranges, knives in those really high end ranges are Usually high end Customs and they aren't exactly available as readily as some of those other products.

But yes the products they paired together shows how little they really know or care about knives in general.
