Recently Mentor contacted me about making him a 7" Hudson Bay knife. This is what he decided on, a lightly torched oak handle, brass pins, 3/16" thick, and has some of the forged finish left on. This one is a hefty beast, ready to do some chopping!

:D :D

I really think John outdid himself with this one - though I may be a bit biassed.

It's probably common knowledge by now, but I wanted to once again mention John's superb customer service - absolutely the best I have ever experienced. He makes suggestions, is receptive to ideas, offers tons of options, and keeps you updated throughout the process. And he gives very realistic estimates of turnaround time, which is appreciated.

As for the knife, I'm really looking forward to putting it to use. I know we often talk about the merits of minimalist gear, but I do a lot of hiking and snowshoeing on decent tract of private land where I create and maintain the trails myself - so I need a good chopper! This one looks like it will do the job nicely.

All the best,

- Mike

You know it!

As of now, I have two camping trips planned for August, plus some brush clearing between now and then. There should be plenty of photo ops!

kgd, the piggy bank has indeed been thoroughly plundered.

All the best,

- Mike
