Mentor?

I saw a Mentor at Wal-mart...I like the blade shape, thickness,etc... What about those handles though. Is there any chance of Buck making a slimmer profile handle? Any plans for a larger Mentor with the same slim blade style. My In(destructible)trepid can handle my sharpened prybar needs but a slightly modified Mentor...there's a nice thought for daily carry.

I also like the the Mentor alot, with the handle being it's only minus point. If it were just a little bit slimmer towards the rear, it'd be perfect (for me). Of course, upgraded steel wouldn't hurt either, but I'm hoping that eventually there will be the possibility of having one done thru the Custom Shop. But this is a great knife, a steal for the $, IMHO.

Brian, what's the "Custom Shop"? Does Buck make knives to customer design specs? How much do you think a dieted-down Mentor with an upgrade in the steel department would run?

Go to the Buck web site and click on "Pete's Custom Shoppe". At present there is only one model available, the 110. But after the turn of the year they'll be adding the 532 for sure. I'm hoping they expand to other models too, but it'll depend on the response to what they have on offer now. So, everyone buy at least one!!
