Heading to MEPS Monday and Tuesday for ASVAB/Physical for the United States Air Force!

Good luck. Hope everything goes well for you.

Lackland sucked for Basic Training, but the 6 months I spent there for my Crypto training was pretty cool.

Make us proud!

good luck man, need any advice you can pm me. basic will be over before u know it then youll just be stuck at some crappy base =]

I am looking into the Air Force too. Headed to an officer briefing on March 8th to learn more about the commissioning process.

Have fun.

N8, best of luck! Keep your head up, be a team player, and above all be motivated and maintain a positive attitude!

Good luck with MEPS! The AF has treated me well so I can't complain. No matter what crappy assignment, job or deployment you are in you have the option of making it a learning experience. If you have any questions especially with the flight line or medical let me know as I'll be glad to help.

Second that!

Capid, noticed you're in Minot? I went to high school there, my dad retired from the AF there and my folks are now living there again..

Bring a book, preferably one you can fit in your pocket. You store electronic devices in a locker so won't be able to fill the down time playing on those, but you can carry the book with you.

I had the ASVAB on Thursday night and medical on Friday. MEPS opens something like 6am, and I was done by 11, but it wasn't until almost 4 that I could leave. That's a lot of waiting around doing nothing. You'll also be waiting between medical tests, after breakfast for the bus to get you to MEPS on Tuesday, and lots more. Having something to read will make it a lot more bearable.

Don't let him fool ya, Nate, there aren't any crappy assignments in the Air Force...it's against Air Force Policy. :p

Hahaha, my uncle was in 30 years and my great uncle was in until colonel. I've heard about the policy;)

Thanks for the advice! I have a book slightly larger than that, but I think I'll bring it. It's a book on combat leadership someone have me that I haven't read yet. Seems pretty cool! Has tactical maneuvers and some bushcraft things in it.
I have asvab tomorrow and physical Tuesday. I've been processing since September and have had a dream of the military since I was a kid, but it didn't start to become a reality till last June. I am so excited and I only hope
I make it in.

Yes, still here at Minot. Just celebrated my 3yrs on station 13Feb. I'll be out of here headed for the Blue Zoo (AF Academy) or to Texas for instructor duty by end of year. A lot of people hate Minot but they tend to lack creativity.

And everyone is right about no bad assignments in the AF. It is the person that makes the assignment good or bad even when it is -27F :D

Well, with enough booze comes creativity I suppose - Minot would not be in my top 20.

Going to the Zoo as cadre I assume?

Yes sir! I'll be the cadets baby sitter for awhile and that's if I get picked up for it. I have a decent shot though ;)

Cool, hills (I guess I should say mountains) and trees - a nice change of pace from telephone poles and prairie :D Good luck with that!

Cadets should be fun when they're not being a PITA. My previous assignment was a schoolhouse, no cadets - just 200-ish 2Lts, talk about wearing me out!

I'm also heading for mountains, trees, and snow - pulled off an AGR job to Elmo, I transition at the end of the month!
