The more I use it the more I like it, over many other knives I own, including Spydercos, and Benchmades.Thin and easy to carry , I also thinned it out a little on belt sander(full convex grind) so it slices and cuts like crazy. Its stainless steel(solingen420 or whatever) but it holds edge well .Lockup is solid as well. Will be buying one more, and also am looking for carbon steel version too, even though stainless is easy to sharpen and holds coarse shaving edge that cuts soft materials like crazy.

I love this knife. I got one in clean black (no animal or K55k), carbon steel. It's got a black thumbstud and a black NiteIze clip on the back. Sleek, elegant, gorgeous, sharp and I can carry it anywhere.

The carbon steel version is fun to sharpen. Crisp enough to where I could hear the burr snap off. Super easy to sharpen! As long as you get the angles right it's beautiful.

I just looked at it, and will probably get one with the animal imprint for my daughter! She will love it and if she loses or breaks that knife it wouldn't be a big deal.

I hate to partake in thread necromancy, but up until two years ago I had been carrying the same k55k on me since 2002. I loved that knife, but the lock spring broke and it was no longer safe to carry(after cutting my finger open on it in my pocket.) I ordered a whole bunch of them online, and they all had the same issue, the lock spring broke on all of them, I called the place I ordered them from this week(I ordered them in 2012) and mentioned it, they told me that it was a problem they had heard about and if I sent them in the knives I still had, they would replace them all. It is honestly my favorite knife, I used it for everything, and whats this about a stainless version? I thought it was only carbon steel.

Howdy and welcome aboard!
(posting in a 2-month old thread is fine, especially when you have something substantive to add, as you did.)

If memory serves, I believe I have heard of some issues with some of the newer knives. They are commonly available in both stainless (similar to 420HC) and carbon steel (similar to 1075)

Ahh, fair enough, on other forums I've been on if a thread hasn't been posted in for more than a month they prefer you to start a new one, was unsure if this was the same, I was also unsure about whether or not I could mention where I got the knives from, which is why I avoided mentioning it by name.

It depends on what you post and how old the thread is. Folks who resurrect a 5-year old post just to say, "pretty knife" might get a reprimand. But if they resurrected it to offer significant additional information about the topic of that thread, we'd likely not mind.

The guideline about mentioning vendors is that we avoid mentioning vendors who don't have a BF dealer membership. There is a link to the list of BF dealer members in my signature.

There is a sticky at the top of the forum which provides specific posting guidelines for the Traditional Forum, but there are three basic things I look for in a post in Traditional:
►Talk about traditional knives
►Use family friendly language
►Post friendly.
